Honest Beauty Makeup

Honest Beauty by Jessica Alba has finally hit the UK and has been snapped up by Cult Beauty to offer the full range of skincare, beauty and makeup products. Whilst Honest Beauty has been available in the States for quite some time, it’s a welcome addition to the UK market. The whole range has been formulated by using a team of top makeup artists and cosmetic chemists to meet Alba’s requirements of using verified ingredients that actually do what they say they do. Effective, safe and with a range that has complete transparency so you can choose products that work without compromising on quality, and without the addition of ‘no, no’ ingredients. The brand ethos ensures that everything from the formulation of the product to the packaging is designed to respect the planet. It’s a wonderful brand and I’m so pleased I’ve had chance to try some of the makeup items and incorporate them into my routine.

When it comes to the makeup side of Honest Beauty, all the products have natural and muted shades to enhance natural beauty. The packaging is simple and sleek, in white casing with prominent branding.

The Creme Cheek Blush in Peony Pink is absolutely dreamy. The cream melts into the skin, giving a light flush of colour that can be built up for a more intense pop of colour. Peony Pink is an ideal shade for me; natural and healthy and stays in place all day. The formulation means that it settles down on the skin in an almost powder like finish and doesn’t feel at all greasy or slippery. I average around 8 hours wear before fading and the overall look is a seamless watercolour flush. It can also be used as a lip tint, making it a great handbag essential.

Perfect all year round, the Tinted Lip Balm in Summer Melon helps keep dry and chapped lips at bay yet makes my pout look glossy and totally kissable. The balm locks in moisture with a buildable colour and the use of avocado oil keeps my lips hydrated all day.

I’ve been very impressed by the Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara and Lash Primer. I’m quite fussy with mascaras but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the results that I’ve had from this. The primer end preps and conditions lashes, and doesn’t dry down so it makes it impossible to add mascara. When applying the mascara over the top, I find that the use of the white primer makes it easy to see which lashes aren’t coated and I can build up the product to give my desired effect of length, volume and intense colour. I don’t notice any flakiness through the day which is the one thing that I struggle with, with many mascaras. Easy to remove with no puling and dragging, it completely dissolves with an oil based cleanser.
