Book your removal service early

As soon as you have your moving date, make sure to get your removal service booked. The last thing that you want is to end up not being able to get an adequate removal service because you’ve left booking one until the last minute. If you want to source a cheap removals service, perhaps you could consider looking at other options besides traditional removal companies. You might find that using a ‘man with a van’ service could reduce the cost significantly, so this might be something that it’s worth looking into.

Start by decluttering

The last thing that you want is to take lots of unnecessary clutter to your new home with you, that’s why it’s worth taking the time to declutter your current home before packing to move to your new one. A great way to make decluttering easier is to rent a skip instead of having to take numerous trips to the dump, as that way you can just toss whatever you like into the skip. It’s also important to try and work on one room at a time, to prevent the process of decluttering from becoming overwhelming.

Utilise a labelling system

As for how you organise your boxes, it’s a good idea to use a labelling system of some sort, so that you know what is in each box. You could either opt to simply write on each box or you could use a stick system that uses colour coded stickers to indicate the room that the box should go in when delivered to your new home.

Pack an essentials box

The last thing that you want when you arrive at your new home is to be unable to find all of the essentials. That’s why it’s a good idea to pack them all into one box, so that you have easy access to all of the things that you need, such as a kettle, mugs, plates, toothpaste and toothbrushes, bedding, appliance chargers, and any other items that you deem essential.
Moving house can be a struggle but it doesn’t have to be, it’s just a case of making sure that you are organised in regards to how you approach the situation.
