Brand Focus – Glow Recipe

Can you believe this is the very first time that Glow Recipe has appeared on the blog. How can that be? Launched back in 2014, I began to see Glow Recipe in the UK just a few short years ago. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, it has captured the attention of many and for good reason. A brand that not only has the insight into Korean skincare, but the most Instagrammable products you’ve ever seen. Set up by Sarah Lee (not of the gateaux family) and Christine Chang, the two founders have created a brand that has gone from strength to strength with products that actually work. Everything that I have tried so far has ticked all my skincare needs boxes and I have been delighted with everything from the packaging, the scents and the formulations. It’s very obvious to me that Glow Recipe will be in my skincare rotation for many years to come and I cannot wait to try every single product they make.

Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream

This little baby was the very first product I ever tried from Glow Recipe and I believe this pot of banana cream is now my fourth pot that I’ve had in my possession. I am obsessed with anything banana scented so that was the first thing that drew me to making the purchase. When I first tried it I was unsure about it with it’s runny consistency that was more like a lotion, but I found that it was an absolute gem when applied to the skin. You don’t need a lot, and the product melts into skin upon contact. I prefer to press the cream into my skin rather than massage it in. It feels cooling, soothes my skin and the banana scent makes this one of the best creams I’ve used. It’s absolutely beautiful and a definite purchase recommendation from me.

Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Serum

I am a sucker for anything with hyaluronic acid as an ingredient. I love hydration and I love that Plum Plump contains five molecular weights of hyaluronic acid. The serum plumps and hydrates the skin whilst leaving a beautiful silky smooth texture. It’s a clear and quite runny serum, and unlike other Glow Recipe products it does have a more subtle scent. I can barely smell the plum but I’m not mad about this as I do use the Banana Cream afterwards and love that scent.

I was unsure of the Plum Plump at first. I found that it applied as a foam and felt sticky when massaged into dry skin so it did put me off a little but I’ve worked out that skin does need to be slightly damp instead. I add this after toner and press it into the skin before leaving it for a few moments then applying moisturiser. The result is beautiful and the reason why I have used this solidly for the last few weeks. I adore it.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pore Tight Toner

This was the one product that I couldn’t wait to try and I absolutely love it. It takes a lot for me to disrupt my usual on rotation toners but as soon as I got my hands on the watermelon glow, it took pride of place on my beauty shelves. The fragrance is just what you expect – tropical and fresh without being overly sweet or cloying. I use this by applying to the palms of my hand and pressing into the skin rather than using a cotton pad as I really appreciate the hydrating benefits. The PHA fatty acids in the formula help with a plump complexion and the BHAs do mildly exfoliate but I find that it’s so gentle that I prefer to use an alternative BHA product. It’s so gentle that I use it twice a day, every day and have had no irritation or sensitivity. It’s perfect and I’m going to be needing a new one very very shortly!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops

This is an interesting little product. The first highlighting skincare, the Dew Drops can be used as a serum before moisturiser, mixed in with moisturiser or foundation, as a primer before foundation and even applied to the high points of your face for a dewy finish. It’s taken some time but I think I have found the perfect way to make this work without it looking like an oil slick. I’m not a huge dewy finish person but I also don’t prefer a solid matte mask of a face so finding a good middle ground is ideal. I apply it in with my moisturiser, preferrably the Glow Recipe Banana Cream and let the makeup skincare hybrid work it’s magic. The result is quite beautiful. A dewiness that sits under your makeup without shine but with a radiance of the glass skin effect that we all wish for. If I wear it alone, it looks like I have just finished my evening skincare routine and if I’m not leaving the house then I let my skin shine. It does really make a difference on the drier points on my face too. It’s a lovely addition from Glow Recipe and I’m really enjoying using it.
