It was my birthday on Wednesday and one of my birthday presents was a Tom Ford lipstick to add to my ever expanding collection. I already have Cherry Lush, Paradiso and Flamingo and with the Autumn season rapidly encasing us, I thought that a beautiful berry colour would be ideal. I actually got the Tom Ford Lip Colour in Violet Fatale about a fortnight ago, as an early birthday treat so I have been wearing it at every opportunity.
Tom Ford Lip Colour in Violet Fatale gives the impression that the colour will be violet however it is a delicious rasperry red colour with a fuschia shimmer within the colour. When I first swatched it, I was totally surprised as I was expecting a deep purpley colour similar to Bruised Plum, yet the colour is such an Anoushka colour that I can’t believe it wasn’t one of the first colours I got.
The colour is semi opaque and has a slight fuschia shimmer within the formula. The majority of my Tom Ford colours are fully opaque with a semi matte finish so a slight shimmer in the finish is just lovely. What I have been totally impressed with from the Tom Ford Lip Colour in Violet Fatale is the longevity. It lasted for so long, and by long I mean long! I got nearly 8 hours of colour from it, and even when it faded, the stain was so good that it lasted until I removed my make up for bed.
My only teeny tiny negative about the Tom Ford Lip Colour in Violet Fatale is that it reminds me of another colour. It isn’t as unique in colour as others and for the £37 price tag, it isn’t good when you can match it to a £15.50 MAC lip colour. I also wish the TF imprint didn’t wear off so easily, as it saddens me!
