Around four days before the big event, I have to start the prep. There seems to be so much to do, and it’s surprising just how time consuming it is when beautifying yourself. I was planning on writing several different posts but I decided to put it all in one comprehensive guide, freeing up my time spent writing blog posts and giving me more time to do the essentials. After spending the last few days full of a cold, I’m going to really enjoy a good pamper session and hope that I am fighting fit before the celebrations begin. Covering hair care, skin care and of course the tan, I’ve picked some of my favourite products as well as some new goodies to make me glow and glisten. Part One of the essential guide covers hair and tan, so get ready for some fab products.
For someone who never really bothered with hair products, having short hair has given me the scope to trial new products that actually help my hair and give it the volume and bounce that I strive for. I love having short hair, and although I still haven’t decided just want I want to do with it for the next year, the main priority is to keep it healthy, shiny and full of bounce. Enhancing the blonde, the Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde range has been a life saver. Pulling all the impurities from my hair, it leaves the the highlighted areas looking vibrant with a healthy, glossy shine. Following on with the HIF Volume Support Conditioner, my hair has never been in such healthy condition. the HIF conditioner contains hyaluronic acid which I would have never have thought I would have seen in a hair product, but it’s this wonder ingredient that is locking in moisture to my hair. Before blow drying, running Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Dramatic Repair through the mid sections of my hair to the ends helps nourish hair before using a heat product on it.
When it comes to styling, I have found that I need a good styling mist to help keep my hair in place throughout the day and after trying the Ogario London shampoo, conditioner and hair mask, I was dying to try more. A brand that uses natural ingredients, smells incredible and leaves my hair feeling amazing, the Ogario Styling Mist is a new favourite. It gives hold to my style as well keeping my hair shiny and tangle free. I’m also over the moon to see the Andrew Collinge CO range has been expanded. Already a huge fan of the Morrocan scented hairspray and styling mist, I’ve added the Definer into my routine. The tiniest bit of the gel like pomade is needed to keep my flyaway hairs smooth and sleek. It’s also great for work, where I am prone to some altitude related frizziness. A definite hand bag essential comes in the form of the Andrew Collinge Hair Moisturiser. If the Definer isn’t your thing, then the Hair Moisturiser is a must. Infused with Argan Oil, it’s ideal for during the day use to smooth and calm hair, but also works as a heat protection spray and shine booster. I need a huge can of it!
I love to false tan and as my natural skin colour is practically translucent in the winter, I’m upping the stakes in my quest to keep bronzed. Tan Organic has won me over in recent months. Not only is it an oil, which keeps my skin soft and supple but it’s unscented, and contains no nasty ingredients. It works better when layered as the first coat of tan doesn’t really give a deep enough colour for me, but two coats looks like I’ve been sunning myself in the Caribbean. For a speedy tan, I’ve been loving the NKD SKN Pre Shower Tan. I apply ten minutes before stepping into the shower, rinse it off and in 4 hours, I am glowing. Again, a couple of coats gives me a wonderfully deep tan and as its being washed off before it develops, my sheets have been saved.
The Sunkissed Dry Oil Tanning Mist has been very well used lately, as it’s one of the least messiest tans. The dry oil is super moisturising on my skin, and the natural tan that comes with it is one of the nicest colours that I’ve used that lasts for days. I think oils are the way forward for me and my skin has been in such good condition. For a glow without the false tan, the Too Faced Royal Oil Body Bronzer is ideal for those who want a wash off colour. It’s suitable for all skin tones and the warm glow with subtle shimmer is so beautiful, plus the addition of coconut oil injects much needed moisture into skin that has been hidden away for the last few months.
Part Two will look at all the skincare party prep that you need so keep an eye out this afternoon. Yes, that’s right – two posts today. You lucky buggers!
