Blogmas Day 24: Christmas Eve Makeup and Fragrance

Christmas Eve is one of my favourite nights of the year. After spending all day preparing for the big day by making sure I’ve baked, assembled a trifle, wrapped all the presents and have all my items for the Christmas Day breakfast, I like take part in a tradition we’ve had for a few years. Although my evenings of spending Christmas Eve drunk as a skunk in my local nightclub have passed, I do like to partake in a few cheeky cocktails at my sisters house, whilst playing board games and eating coca cola glazed gammon sandwiches. Its a good tradition to have. A christmassy make up look is essential, and I have put together an easy look using some fab products. Finish off with a splash of a gorgeous evening fragrance and I’m ready for the festivities.

For my make up base I have used the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer and Make Up Forever HD Foundation. These are perfect for giving a flawless finish and look great in any Christmas Selfies. My eyebrows are lightly filled in using Billion Dollar Brows Brow Powder in Taupe, and MAC Gingerly blush is used for warming my skin.I can’t wait to get my tan back, I’m way too pale for my liking!

I always use some form of primer on my eyes before putting eyeshadow on as I find it helps the shadow last longer and really bring out the colours. Today I’ve used a MAC Paintpot in Painterly, which is a neutral matte base. The Joan Collins Timeless Beauty Quad in Misty Blacks and Silver* works beautifully to give a smoky eye that can be built up to the desired intensity. The silver shadow is so pretty and gives your eyelid a pop of colour that catches the light.

I very rarely line my eyes but recently I’ve started to be a bit more adventurous. When I do line them in black, I usually use a gel but I have been trying to get back in the habit of using a liquid liner. I do love how the liquid liner looks, especially once I have mastered the technique again. The MeMeMe Fallen Angel* is a double ended product that holds a liquid liner at one end and a mascara at the other. I love a multi use product, especially for when I am at work so this will be a suitcase staple. I am a huge mascara lover and have so many different types but the Yves Rocher Lash Plumping Mascara* has had me reaching for it daily. It needs a bit of extra oomph to remove it as its waterproof but it stays put all day.

A slick of lipstick completes any look and a smoky eye needs a nude lip to compliment it well. Yves Rocher Moisturizing Cream Lipstick in Bois De Rose* works well on my lips. It is a shade darker than my natural lip colour and the slight shimmer makes my lips look plumper, whilst keeping my lips hydrated.

Finally, before I leave the house armed with a pile of presents, I spritz on Yves Rocher FlowerParty By Night*. A fruity-floral fragrance with a blend of licorice, almonds and vanilla. Its not too heavy for the evening but it is spiced and sweet with a seductive aroma from the licorice notes.
