KVD Vegan Beauty Lolita Por Vida Palette

KVD Vegan Beauty Lolita Por Vida Palette

This post contains one gifted product however the rest of the products were purchased by myself

You may have recently seen in the beauty news that the Kat Von D brand has undergone some changes and has been relaunched as KVD Vegan Beauty under the Kendo brand. After Kat Von D took the decision to step back from the brand, it’s already given the cosmetics a chance to perform well again within the beauty industry. Without going into all the background of Kat Von D and her opinions, it has had quite the devastating effect on the brand itself. I personally felt like I couldn’t share the products due to the impending backlash that I was sure to get and in turn I did avoid it. But now, here we are – a fresh start and a fresh stance on making a stand within the cosmetics market. KVD Vegan Beauty is back and it’s going to be better than ever and I for one am here for it! With a brand new palette and some new products that have just been launched, here’s a little insight into the KVD Vegan Beauty collection.

The KVD Vegan Beauty Lolita Por Vida palette was gifted to me prior to Chrismas and whilst it is part of the Holiday 2019 collection, the palette does keep coming in and out of stock at Debenhams. I did check at the Manchester concession and they had plenty in store too. Debenhams is the only place in the UK that you will find KVD and in general, their website seems to be pretty well stocked. When this does come back in stock, it retails for £45 which for an 18 pan palette is actually really very good.

The Lolita shade has become synonymous with KVD and from there has spawned many different chestnut rose coloured products. It’s one of those shades that would suit every skin tone and the Lolita Por Vida palette has got that selection of shades that would work for many. A beautiful mixture of 18 go to neutrals, warm browns and bronzes, romantic rosy purples in matte, shimmer, ultra glitter and foil finishes, it’s a palette that I wouldn’t have put with KVD but works so well. It’s definitely a palette that works better on the eye than with finger swatches – from the images, they look quite muted but when built up on the eye, they pack quite a punch. There are a few shades mainly the purple toned colours that needed some work, but aside from that they all performed like I expected them too. Easy to pick up and pat on, easy to blend and work with other shades, beautifully buttery formulas and the three stand out shades of Dulces Suenos, Reina and Luna have taken this palette to the top of my list.

From the moment I got this palette, I have been using it frequently and it my go to choice at New Year for an ultra smokey and glitter eye. I must say that Reina is one of the most beautiful pressed glitters that I have ever used and the sparkles that it gave were perfect for bringing in 2020. Paired with the right lipstick, you can easily switch up your look from daytime, to nighttime to a full on party. I’ve picked my perfect KVD Lip wardrobe for this and these three shades are to die for.

With liquid lipsticks, I have found that there are minimal brands who have decent formulations and all I need from my liquid lip is for it to apply smoothly, not crack and flake and to not feel drying whilst wearing it. I do find that the KVD Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks perform on the highest spectrum compared to other brands and as such, I have amassed quite the collection. The three shades I have chosen are all part of the permanent collection, however stock may not show on the website as I have found at the time of writing.

You can never go wrong with a classic red lip and I find that KVD Outlaw is that perfect shade of red. Erring slightly on the cooler side, it’s a classic brick red shade with a matte finish. Everlasting by name, everlasting by nature, it needs some patience and a lot of oil to remove.

Miss Argentina is gorgeous cool toned deep berry magenta with a matte finish. I did think that this shade would wear a lot more vivid like it looks in the tube but it actually dries down to a more muted shade meaning that it’s a lot more wearable. I’ve used this shade for a long time, in fact this was one of my signature pinks from back in my flying days!

Finally, the iconic shade Lolita. Lolita has several versions in the lipsticks but I feel that the original is the best of all. Warm toned and slightly plummy, the shade can best be described as a chestnut rose. I actually don’t remember buying this, but looking at my tube it has been used and abused over the time I’ve had it. Either way, the shade is that perfect nude that gives me my lips but better look. So beautiful.

Brand new for 2020, KVD Vegan Beauty have launched two new products; the XO Vinyl Lip Cream in 6 fresh shades and the Everlasting Blusher, again in 6 brand new shades. I picked one of the Everlasting Blushers in Rosebud when I was passing last week. It was an unintentional purchase but I was drawn to the beautiful 3D flower packaging and the gorgeous cool toned mauve pink inside. The blusher is incredibly pigmented and you literally need to kiss your brush into it. As a little goes a long way, I can imagine that this is going to last an age. It has a velvety soft feel to it and you can feel just how finely milled the powder is as your touch it. It blends seamlessy into the skin and as you can see from the swatch, the intense colour does buff out but I would always advise to go in with a light hand. Just like it’s everlasting family, the Everlasting blush stays in place all day. After falling in love with Rosebud, I’d love to get Foxglove and Honeysuckle next.
