We all have that one friend who brings out the worst in you, the one who urges you to do something you know you shouldn’t. My friend Aimee (who also owns a deliciously beautiful bakery business, Wisteria Bakery) is that friend – she practically forced me to order the new Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzer via an Instagram chat. With friends like that, no wonder I have no self control. I mean, I also blame her for the fact that I popped in the new Magic Vanish at the same time because there’s no point in receiving a delivery with just one product in it, is there? Aimee would agree.

Charlotte Tilbury seems to be causing some uproar in the beauty world as of late. The incessant amount of new launches in the midst of a global pandemic seems to be creating waves and to be honest, I am starting to feel like I do about Anastasia Beverly Hills – it’s too much! You cannot keep up and some products are becoming a bit samey. There is a new palette that’s just been launched for a limited time however in just a few short weeks, we are also going to see the next collection for the holiday season. I do wish that brands would go back to the seasonal drops, as I love holiday season and I adore the spring summer collections and the smaller autumn winter drops. Having a constant barrage of new in just makes it harder to keep up with current trends and it’s changed my spending habits in that I opt for repurchases or products that I will wear more than products that I need.

That being said, when I saw the launch of the new Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush bronzer, I did think that this would be an ideal addition to my kit as I love a good bronzer and it’s something that I use every day. Wrapped up in the classic burgundy box with rose gold accents, the box opens to reveal the bronzer. I was actually shocked at the size – it’s enormous and it reminds me of the size of the Marc Jacobs O!Mega bronzer and the more high end Tom Ford offerings. One fantastic selling point of this is that it’s refillable and now that the refill options are available on the Charlotte Tilbury site, I will soon be buying a top up.

When choosing my shade for the bronzer, it was a toss up between the medium and the tan. The shade range isn’t brilliant – it has four shades; fair, medium, tan and deep and from the images on the site the tan looked like it could be a little muddy for me. I have to remember that I’m not perma-tanned from all the long haul anymore as I do naturally head for medium and higher shades as when I’m tanned, my skin does have olive undertones. Settling on the medium shade, the website confirms that it matches to the below:

Charlotte recommends matching this shade with Airbrush Flawless Foundation in 5 Cool – 8 WarmMagic Foundation in 5-8.5 MediumLight Wonder in 5-9 DarkMagic Vanish in 1 Fair-2 MediumMagic Away Concealer in 5-8 MediumAirbrush Flawless Finish in 1 Fair-2 Medium, and Genius Magic Powder in 2 Medium.

When it arrived, I knew as soon as I opened it that I needed Tan, so now that I can get the refills, I will be swapping the shades over. I have been using the bronzer even though it needs a fair bit of build up to give me some warmth and colour to my skin. Whilst from the swatch it does appear to have depth, it doesn’t look the same when diffused onto the skin from the brush. The bronzer itself is actually a beautiful product and follows on with the formulation from the Airbrush Finishing powder. It’s fine as air with the super soft and silky finely milled powder, that contains hyaluronic acid and a pore blurring effect to make skin look flawless. It’s a matte finish, with no shimmer or glittery pigments yet it has a formulation that contains a soft focus silica that reflects the light for ultimate gorgeousness.

The product that I have been the most surprised by is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Vanish in Medium. Considering this was just a random product I selected, I’ve actually found it to be one of my most used products as of late. The colour corrector in a subtle salmon pink shade neutralises the blue tones under my eyes, making it look like I have no dark circles and brightening up the area. The formulation of the cream is lovely; flavanoids to disguise the dark areas, carnauba wax helps with the flawless application and finish whilst mica helps with light reflecting and a luminosity to make it appear that you’ve had a solid 8 hours sleep. Magic Vanish sits well underneath other makeup products and I have banished a brightening concealer from under my eyes as I no longer need it.

I’m sure there will be another new launch from Charlotte Tilbury coming in the next few weeks, as they are being released liked wild fire but I am going to take a step back and hold off until the Christmas period. Have you tried the bronzer or Magic Vanish? What do you think?
