bPerfect x Stacey Marie Carnival The Antidote Palette
I only mentioned in my Sensorium Beauty post last week that I love this time of year due to all the very exciting makeup launches ready for the autumn and winter season. We cannot get anymore autumnal than the brand new bPerfect x Stacey Marie Carnival The Antidote Palette, the fourth offering in the Carnival range and the palette that I think is going to be very well received in the makeup world for being that perfect all rounder palette. Carnival The Antidote is a stunning, romantic colour story with the signature Carnival twist and it’s absolutely beautiful.

The Carnival collection started a few years ago with the original Carnival palette. A capsule collection of 24 fabulous brights, warm neutrals and two large highlighter shades, I was in awe of the performance of the shadows. The colours transferred onto the skin as bright as they appeared in the palette. Carnival 2 XL Pro Palette was next on the list, and this supersized palette of 42 shades became an MUAs staple. I didn’t get the XL as it is very similar to the original. Then Love Tahiti came along and out of all the palettes that I own, Tahiti gets pulled out constantly. Any pink and purple eye look that I wear usually comes from Love Tahiti. It’s a dream. Three palettes of bright colours is more than enough so we definitely needed The Antidote.
A love story indeed, Carnival The Antidote has one of the best colour stories I have seen from a palette. With 45 shades, it’s huge so there’s not a combination that wouldn’t be possible. When I look at it, I see three zones of 15 shades; the warm reds, oranges and bronzes, then the neutrals before heading into the grungy greens. These three zones have inspired the eye looks I have created below. Delving in even closer also means that each zone has three quads of nine shades, cleverly placed to make it even easier to chose your complementary shades. It does make it very easy to pick your shades and the only difficulties I found was picking my shimmer shades.

The palette contains 29 highly pigmented matte shades and 16 shimmer shades. I found that with the previous Carnival palettes that I got some staining from some colours but I’ve not noticed anything from The Antidote so far. Always a bonus when that happens. It’s so cliché to describe the shades as buttery soft, but the shimmers are actual next level melted butter goodness. The matte shades are picked up on the brush easily, apply on the eye with the same level of colour as what appears in the pan and they blend with ease. They are a delight to work with and one of the reasons why I continually purchase shadows from the brand.
I’m really pleased that Stacey Marie has taken Carnival in this direction. There’s only so much you can do with bright shades and there is a whole market saturated with brown smoky eye look palettes. Being someone who plays with colour more than neutrals, Carnival The Antidote has really added some depth into my palettes. That Carnival twist is definitely there, the level of colour is still achievable and weirdly, I am really erring towards the khaki, grungy green eye looks at the moment. Who knew?
I created three looks with the palette and I love how all of them have turned out. And yes, I did include a basic bitch smoky brown eye with a twist.
