Working in the airport can be a very dangerous place, you know. I mean, I only have to walk through World Duty Free and I have spent half my wages on premium brands such as Jo Malone, Chanel and YSL Beauty. There’s some amazing travel exclusives at the moment, and I simply cannot help myself. It’s a good job that they are all at duty free prices otherwise my bank would be shouting at me for splurging on new Jet Set Beauty. I’ve been a little bit naughty over the last few weeks and I have picked up some new items as well as replacing some old favourites, so I thought that it was only right that I shared my haul with you.
A long serving cult favourite of mine is the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, £29.50. I’ve been regularly repurchasing the Travel Exclusive set – that contains a hand cream, a lip balm and a tube of the Original 8 Hour cream for around ten years now. Although I don’t use the Original 8 Hour cream as much as the other two products, I have come to the conclusion that the only hand cream and lip balm that are worth having on board an aircraft are the Elizabeth Arden ones. My particular favourite is the hand cream as it not only intensively moisturises my hands but it leaves a silky film on them for several hours throughout the day, whilst nourishing dry patches. As a welcome addition to my lips in flight, the lip balm delivers a shot of hydration without leaving a greasy finish, and it also means that I can continue to wear a matte lipstick for work. The Original 8 Hour cream is kept in my suitcase for when I am down route. This little tube comes in so handy as a multi use product and it can be used on all sorts of ailments. It’s a godsend for sunburn, great for chapped and cracked skin and ideal for smoothing and taming hair. For under £30 for three amazing products, you can see why it has been a firm favourite for so many years.
Brand new and limited as a travel exclusive, Marc Jacobs Violet* £40 for 50ml, is the newest to the family in which Dot and Honey reside. With a revamp on the signature bottle design, the pearlescent and iridescent bottle was the first thing to catch my eye. I have been a fan of the Marc Jacobs family for several years and I must own nearly every fragrance they have launched, and love each one. Violet hasn’t disappointed me and the notes within the scent blend together beautifully leaving a warm, summery freshness on the skin. Top notes of Calabria bergamot, green apple and kumquat dance on the skin until they warm into heart notes of white lily, jasmine, magnolia and violet. Base notes of patchouli, vanilla bean and musk remain on my skin for around 6 hours of wear. I am totally in love with Violet and it has become a daily wear for me.
My trusty Benefit Roller Lash, £16.50 was back on the ‘to buy’ list as I had used up every sample as well as my first full sized tube. I have totally fallen in love with Roller Lash, to the point that no other mascara is coming close. It lengthens my lashes whilst delicately curling and separating them, and I don’t get that awful black smudged look after several hours of wear. It’s love.
Finally, my first proper foray into the world of Clinique make up. Out of my huge collection of cosmetics, I think you would be shocked to hear that I have only ever tried just three make up items from Clinique. I’ve previously owned a lipstick, a chubby stick and a chubby blush stick. I don’t know why I haven’t invested more in Clinique as with the products that I have used, I have really liked. When I saw the Clinique All About Eyes Travel Exclusive set* I thought this was a great way to try more from the brand and see how I fare. The set includes a travel sized pot of best selling All About Eyes eye cream, which I have been keeping in my liquid bag at work. It helps reduce puffiness and redness and is a great help mid flight to perk me up. The Lash Power Feathering Mascara in Black Onyx is a perfect day time, less is more mascara. It gives my lashes a definite fluttery look yet they look very natural and almost like I haven’t got any mascara on. I particularly love the Chubby Shadow stick in Beautifully Beige to continue in the natural make up look, as it gives a pretty, shimmery finish with great staying power. I have been multi tasking with the Superfine Liner for Brows as I have been using it not only as a brow pencil but an eye liner too. For everything you need for a quick and easy, natural day time look, it can all be found in the Clinique All About Eyes set.
World Duty Free have got some amazing products in at the moment, and I still have an ever growing wishlist. Are you going on holiday this year? What is on your Jet Set Beauty wishlist?
