Over the last few months there has been a huge buzz around the new Kenneth Branagh film, Cinderella. With huge promotions by several brands, Cinderella has been the talk of the town. From make up collections by MAC Cosmetics and Essence, nail colours from Morgan Taylor and Red Carpet Manicure and a clothing range by Lauren Conrad for Kohls to name a few, it got me thinking about how we can become a modern day Cinderella. For today’s post, I have brought together some of my most beautiful items that are fit for a Princess, including a very special pair of glass slippers.
I have quite long hair already but sometimes I just need a bit of extra volume and thickness. I’ve been using Halo Hair Extensions for over a year now and I find the quality to be one of the best that I have tried. My original Halo hair piece was a #613 Light Blonde, and although my hair looks to be quite blonde, it has more golden undertones running through it. I’ve since updated my Halo to the #24 Golden Blonde 20 inch deluxe Halo. The piece is 160 grams of 100% Indian remy hair with an adjustable wire for the perfect fit. As they are human hair they can be washed and styled with heat and still retain their glossy, silky look.
Every Princess needs a beautiful make up palette that can be looked at in awe. My Guerlain Ever Gold Maxi Coleurs Palette does just the trick. I received this before Christmas and really, I should have blogged about it before then but unfortunately for my readers, it turned into one of those make up items that I didn’t want to touch. I didn’t want to smudge the teeny Guerlain logos on the eye shadows or make marks in the lipstick. The gold case contains everything you need for a made up face, that is also suitable for travelling. It’s only available in World Duty Free airport shops so it’s one to look out for on your next holiday. I’ve used all the shades within the palette to create this look, which lasted such a long time. I particularly love the Cils d’enfer mascara for long fluttery lashes.
It wouldn’t be a Cinderella post without mentioning one of the items that I managed to get hold of from the MAC Cinderella collection. Although I was really disappointed with the MAC Cinderella collection, I had my heart set upon Mystery Princess Beauty Powder. I love the beauty powders and this pinky beige powder with silver glitter is beautiful. It’s quite cool toned which is not something I usually go for but it works well with a tan and the silvery glitter is not that apparent on the skin. It gives quite a bright, sparkly highlight so is ideal for nights out to find your Prince Charming.
A beauty look isn’t completed without painting your nails and a mani-pedi is a regular job in my house. I’ve been enjoying the switch from those dark winter berry shades to a more summery pink and coral colour palette. Morgan Taylor nail varnishes have brought out a gorgeous Cinderella inspired collection that doesn’t just focus on the blues and iridescent glass slipper colour that we associate with Cinders. My Carriage Awaits is a creamy orange coral that I have been wearing on my toes for the last few weeks. Bright and summery with a cream gloss finish, it has worn wonderfully with no chipping and peeling. On my nails I have been wearing Ella Of A Girl, a cream finish baby pink that has a pale blue iridescent shimmer running finely through it. I got around 4 days of wear from Ella Of A Girl before it chipped which is a great length of time for me.
The piece de resistance of the modern day Cinderella falls down to the feet, and of course Cinderella is famous for her glass slippers. I’ve had my very own pair of glass slippers custom made especially for me. Although they are my glass slippers, they are very wearable look gorgeous paired with any outfit. Made by Victoria from Customised Bling Things, my slippers are heavily glittered with Aurora Borealis crystal embellishment. From the crystal swags on the back of each shoe, to the tiny detailing of the reflective glass design on the front of the shoe, Customised Bling Things have taken an idea and made it a reality. My shoes are beautifully hand crafted and fit like a glass slipper should; perfectly! I’ve worn my shoes several times now and I was worried about wear and tear on the glitter yet they have stayed intact with no visible marks or loss of glitter. They have been set and protected against water and weather and can be wiped down to remove any marks. If you have a special event or an idea that you want to see come to life, then I cannot recommend Victoria enough. I will let the pictures do the talking and let you swoon over my pretty shoes. I also ask you to follow Customised Bling things on social media as the pictures of the creations she has made are incredible. Hmm, I think I need some Belle from Beauty and The Beast shoes next…
