I think I’m slightly obsessed with purple lipsticks at the moment. I’ve spoken about MAC Violetta and YSL #19 over the course of this series and now I am bringing to you the Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids in Hot Plum. I have previously talked about the Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivid lipstick in Fuchsia Flash and just how well it performs for a drugstore lipstick.
I had been tempted by Hot Plum for quite sometime and whilst shopping last week, I noticed that my supermarket which has a huge Maybelline stand had omitted the Hot Plum from its Colour Sensational range. I tweeted Maybelline in a blind panic hoping that it hadn’t been discontinued but they didn’t respond. Online searches didn’t bring anything up, and it is still on sale in Boots online. A trip to my local Superdrug, and they had one in stock. It was mine!
Hot Plum is more subdued than the other colours in the vivids range. As I have Fuchsia Flash, I was expecting Hot Plum to be similar in the brightness, however it is no where near as neon. It is still bright and vibrant and lives up to its Vivid name. Hot Plum has a satin finish, and the coverage is almost opaque. It has a slight sheer look to it, although you can see that the coverage is high. It is creamy and moisturising and lasts a good 6 hours on myself, and leaves a lovely magenta tint when it wears off.
Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids in Hot Plum is a welcome addition to my collection and its a great universal colour that will suit any skin tone. Have you tried any of the Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids?
