I absolutely adore Christmas. It’s true. I’m a massive kid at heart and I adore the run up to the special day almost as much as I love the Holiday make up sets that come out this time of year. I am no stranger to Selfridges, Space NK and Sephora and I like to give myself a limit of just two Christmas make up sets each year. Last year saw the purchase of the beautiful Too Faced La Belle Carousel and with baited breath, I was patiently waiting to see what Christmas at Too Faced would be like this year. It’s gorgeous. All of it. The Holiday range is entitled Christmas in Paris and I have been lucky enough to snatch up the Sephora Exclusive Too Faced Le Grande Palais. Swoon!
The Too Faced Le Grande Palais is a full face of make up in a box and is made up of 18 eyeshadows, two blushes, a bronzer, a highlighter, a deluxe mini Better Than Sex mascara, a mini Melted Peony liquid lipstick and a mini Shadow Insurance all housed together in the Christmassy Parisian Palace. Not only does it contain a huge amount of product, but the packaging of the Le Grande Palais is just a thing of beauty. A pale pink box, wrapped up in pink embossed ribbon, and when you take the lid off, it opens up to reveal the inside of the Palace. Decorated with Sephora bags, the Grande Staircase gives you the first glimpse into what’s inside with the deluxe sized samples of Melted Lipstick, Better Than Sex and the Shadow Insurance.
The powder products are cleverly concealed in the base of the case, in a handy removable palette. The palette can either be propped up within the box for placing on your dressing table, or taken out completely for travelling and on the go. After last year’s Too Faced La Belle Carousel, I was hoping that the colours weren’t duplicated within this years palette and thankfully they aren’t. A mixture of matte, satin, shimmer and glitter packed shadows all blend beautifully together to create the step by step looks in the look book provided.
There are some shades in the set which I’m not overly fussed with and they are the paler shades, which as usual transpire to be quite chalky against my skin tone. I did also read that the glittery shades were prone to fall out but when teamed with the Shadow Insurance and packed on with a flat brush, I managed to make the most beautiful shimmery eyes. The metallic shades are my particular favourites and although I don’t usually wear blue eyeshadow, I think I will be making an exception for these pretties.
All I’m thinking now is ‘What will they do next year?’. I can almost guarantee that I will be making sure that one of my two Christmas sets will be from Too Faced. The Sephora Exclusive Too Faced Le Grande Palais is still available and is priced at $58 which is approximately £38.
