How to Increase Home Privacy on a Densely Populated Street
When you’re living somewhere that’s surrounded by a lot of neighbors, it can sometimes be a little challenging. Feeling as if everyone is able to overlook you and see into your private space isn’t pleasant, and this is most commonly an issue in the garden. However, there are things you can do to make your space, both indoor and outdoor, feel a little more private than it feels right now.

Grow the Hedges
First of all, you might want to take a look at the garden and think about growing the hedges out there if you don’t currently have any. When you have tall hedges surrounding the perimeter of your garden, it makes your life a lot easier and will make it simpler for you to make sure that people can’t look into your garden with ease. It’s definitely an option worth considering.
Or Install a Better Fence
If you don’t want to grow hedges, you can simply put up a new fence that’s a little taller. Of course, this is something that not only impacts your garden and home, so it’s something that you’ll need to discuss with the neighbor that you share the fence with. If you can come to some kind of agreement, it should help to make your space feel more private.
Install a Trellis Around Your Outdoor Dining Space
If you have an outdoor dining space that you want to lend some extra privacy, you could install a trellis on one side of the space. You can then grow some climbing plants up the trellis and create a natural barrier. It’ll still let some light through and it’ll be green and natural, making it much more aesthetically pleasing. But at the same time, it’ll provide the privacy you need.
Find the Right Shutters for the Windows
In terms of your interior space, one of the best things you can do to make your space feel more private is to add some new shutters or blinds. You can find a wide range of good options at a shutter shop. Make sure the ones you choose are adaptable and that you can adjust the amount of privacy they give you and balance that against the amount of natural light they allow in.
Consider Tinted Windows
Finally, think about whether it might be a good idea to add a tint to your windows. This is something that can be done very easily, and it doesn’t necessarily need to make your interiors feel darker. It just makes it harder to look into the windows from the outside and that’s obviously what you’re looking for here. It’s something many homes have these days.
As you can see, there are lots of ways in which you can make your home feel more private and more protected from the prying eyes of neighbors. The sooner you implement the kinds of changes we’ve discussed in the guide above, the sooner you’ll start to feel like you have your privacy back.
