Have a look below at some of the most common forgotten processes,  and add them to your list of the important tasks for your move:

Packing

Packing can cause a number of issues even for the most experienced people moving home. Some of the most mistakes happen when you’re packing for your move. You need to ensure you have a high level of organisation. You should make sure  you are thinking about areas such as:

  • Fragiles Items- Make sure any fragile items are either put to one side or are adequately wrapped with tools such as tissue paper and bubble wrap. They should be clearly marked and kept separate from heavy bulky items.
  • Packing The Essentials- It may seem good to pack up everything but you should be aiming to pack the essential items last and then unpack them first at the other end, this way you won’t be routing around loads of different boxes just to find a kettle and cup for your morning brew.
  • The Boxes– It’s important to make sure you’re using the right type of boxes that are fit for purpose, this means making sure they are the right size and aren’t going to fall apart when being lifted.

Use Labels

It’s surprising how many people don’t use labelling as a tool when moving. It can help to alleviate a lot of problems on the far end of the move. Although it may seem obvious that you should be labelling your boxes, there are still people who leave it and just wing it. If you want to make sure your move goes as smoothly as possible it’s a really good idea to make sure you use labels such as un-pack first, heavy, room indication, items for storage essentials indication etc. The best way to do this is to make sure you label as you go along and don’t leave it until last. You could even use a colour chart instead and place a yellow sticker on every box that’s for the master room. Don’t Get Carried Away

Once you’re in the swing of things, it can be far too easy to get ahead of yourself and overpack and pack things that you may need before the move. You should always make sure you are packing your essentials last. It’s also really easy to get other people involved with packing to speed things up but you should make sure you have run through with them what they are NOT to pack as you may need it before your actual move especially if your weeks in advance.

These are only three simple areas that people tend to get lost with when moving, there are others, have you recently moved or planning a move? Please share in the comments section below.
