Aside from makeup and beauty, my other much loved hobby is eating. Could you guess? It’s been a rubbish eighteen months where dining out frequently hasn’t been possible and I’ve had to swap table service for Uber Eats doorstep delivery. Now that everything is back open, I’ve been heading out as much as I can to support my local restaurants and favourite lunch spots. One of those said lunch spots is Harvey Nichols and the Second Floor Deli Bar where I can sit and enjoy beautiful views of Manchester, peruse the wonderful wine section and of course sit and pick at the immense deli boards whilst sipping a cold glass of wine.

Harvey Nichols Second Floor Deli Bar

Spending a Saturday afternoon in the city centre led us to a pit stop for lunch at the Second Floor Deli Bar, where we were spoilt for choice with the various options. Snacks, deli plates and artisan sandwiches with a variety of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, we eventually settled on the sharing board with a chilled bottle of house white, which happened to be a fine Sauvignon Blanc.

For £50, the sharing board is a perfect size for 2 to 4 people. We annihilated it between 2 as we were starving but there was still quite a bit left over. With six different types of meat; prosciutto, parma ham, Jamon Iberico, salami, chorizo and bresola and four cheeses, antipasti, crackers and bread it is quite the feast. It’s so enjoyable to sit and nibble at deli food whilst indulging in a much needed catch up and gossip.

The Harvey Nichols Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect pairing with lighter dishes such as cheeses and salads. Blended by Chateau Lamothe exclusively for Harvey Nichols, the Sauvignon has notes of grapefruit, lime and elderflower with cut grass and herb gardens. Bright and zesty, it’s an easy drinker and for a wine connoisseur like myself, it went down with ease. It’s also a brilliant price of just £9.95 a bottle should you purchase it from the wine shop. The house wine is included within the cost of the sharing board but should you wish to try and other dishes alongside a bottle of wine of your choice, you can choose any from the wine shop, and there will be a £10 corkage fee. Great if you have a particular favourite from Harvey Nichols.

I love nothing more than a simple bread and butter and the thick wedges of the artisan loaf tasted so good. Crusty and with bite on the outside yet soft and fluffy in the middle. A thick scraping of salted butter and straight into my dipping bowl of oil and Balsamic vinegar. Heaven is actually a piece of buttered bread. I believe the crackers were available in the Food Market and were a selection of The Fine Cheese Company Lemon and Sea salt, and Basil and Olive Oil crackers. Tasty, a good snap and a perfect accompaniment to the cheeses.

The antipasti selection was varied, with cream cheese stuffed peppers, olives, pickled onions and cornichons with cubes of quince jelly to eat alongside the cheese. I rarely have quince so it was really welcomed and it tasted beautiful alongside the cheese. I really enjoyed anything pickled, so the onions and cornichons were consumed quite quickly.

If you are wanted a sophisticated lunch then I would definitely recommend the Second Floor Deli Bar for a mid shopping pit stop or lunch date. If you can get a table near the window, you are in for a treat to watch the world go buy and see the beautiful architecture that I love about Manchester.
