Six TV Homes I Wish I Lived In

I’ve always loved looking at homes that I don’t live in, and pretending I live there. Is that just me? I’m partial to a good scroll on property websites, but one of my favourite ways of indulging my home fantasy is by lusting after homes I can see in films or on TV. Here are 6 TV homes that I desperately wish I lived in!

The Model Home – Arrested Development

The Bluth home is a bit of a joke in Arrested Development, as the family sell property but have to live in one of their own model homes which is not half as functional as it is set up to be. But that’s kind of what I love about it. The space is huge and ridiculously fancy, and given how often George Bluth is able to hide within that home, there is clearly a lot of unused space that is just waiting to be utilised!

The Spellman House – Sabrina the Teenage Witch

My obsession with the Spellman house goes back to when I was a kid. I loved the unique shape in the exterior shots, and the interior was all sorts of cool, with gothic undertones and solid wood flooring throughout, giving it a really quirky and vintage feel. I always pictured myself having a room in the little turret. I’ve seen people going to visit the actual house in vlogs and its definitely on my bucket list – if I don’t just go ahead and build the actual house myself one day!

The Banks’ House – The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

So the whole premise of Fresh Prince was that the Banks family were the wealthy side of Will’s family, but my goodness their house was always the height of luxury even for a wealthy family in my eyes. I remember their kitchen in particular was so huge, with those incredibly large windows that looked out onto the garden (and did they mention a tennis court, or did I imagine that?) and the living room/staircase shot was always iconic.

Monica’s Apartment – Friends

If I mention the words ‘Monica’s Apartment’, every single person in the Western world knows what I’m talking about, whether they like Friends or not. The purple walls with the art deco flourishes, the ceiling beams, that massive window at the back with a balcony that gives me serious safety concerns – it’s all so amazing! Obviously an apartment in that location would cost an absolute fortune, but if we’re living the fantasy life then I would live there in an instant.

Lorelai’s Place – Gilmore Girls

Stars Hollow is my dream location to live in, and it makes me kind of sad that it doesn’t actually exist. Not just for the town, with its adorable cosy vibe and that gorgeous gazebo in the middle, but Lorelai’s house is an actual dream. Her porch in particular fills me with so much joy (when it isn’t being eaten by termites!), and I think even Lorelai would agree that I could put her kitchen to much better use than she does.

The Landry-Campbell Home – Sister Sister

One of the things that stands out to me when I remember Tia and Tamera’s house from Sister Sister was when they got separate bedrooms that were joined by a bathroom. As a kid, that seemed like the coolest thing ever, and I pictured myself growing up and getting myself a house with one of my friends and having a bathroom that joined our rooms. Now that I’ve grown up, of course, I am ready to spend a good hour lusting over that kitchen, with the kitchen island with the patio doors behind it being a thing of dreams in particular.
