How a Capsule Wardrobe Can Be a Life Saver
This post is a paid for partnership and contains PR Samples
Where to start with the first quarter of 2022? This has not been something that I have been expecting but I’m back to being less able bodied again. After several years of thinking that I was going to be somewhat pain free, I have had another injury. A protruding disc is sitting on a nerve and when I say excruciating pain, I’m talking levels of pain that I haven’t experienced before. Thankfully, I have made my life somewhat easier and have made sure that I have a constant rotation of clothing with my little capsule wardrobe and it’s been a life saver.

I’m currently at home, safe and secure with minimal chance of hurting myself. My days now consist of me spending time sat on my bed as the level of comfort and stability is much better than the couch. Everyone wants a big squishy couch but when you can’t pull yourself up off it, it’s a different story. My day to day rotation of clothes has been primarily pyjamas whilst I have been in a sulk about the life changing issues that I’m experiencing but now I’m feeling stronger, I am ready to face the world in my gorgeous, cosy and classic capsule wardrobe. At this moment in time, I’m getting 4 good days a week and just 3 that’s filled with zero energy!
The simplicity of a capsule wardrobe has so many benefits and it’s a practice that I have adopted for some time. Remember that lockdown thing we had to do? Well, I wasn’t sitting in my pjs all day after ordering 2 pairs of joggers in black and grey, 2 packs of vests in black, white and grey and a couple of cardi’s. That was my whole work wardrobe for 2 whole years! I still rotate but sometimes you want to feel a little more put together, especially when you are getting visitors.

To add to my trusty existing capsule wardrobe I headed to Very where I have had a wonderful time picking items from New In at Very. They have some beautiful items as well as stocking brands that they didn’t have the last time I shopped there. Long Tall Sally? Yes please – my 6ft frame needs a properly cut sleeve length and a coat that doesn’t skim my bum.
I’ve fallen in love with the LTS parka with beautiful faux fur hood and it’s actually making me want to get outside and get moving around. I know that you will be able to revisit me in years to come and I will still own this. The quality is fantastic, the colour is classic and as we only have warm weather for 2 weeks of the year, I’ll get quite a lot of wear from it.

Fun Fact – this took me 4 hours to take one photo and I needed a 3 hour nap afterwards. What a pain day that was!
I’ve always loved Very’s own brand, V. They have up to the moment new styles, plenty of classic items and the knitwear is exactly what I want. Have you seen my cream cable knit tabard? How cute will this look paired with a shirt or even with the bubble sleeved t.shirt – another item that looks smart but is ultimately a comfy t.shirt. Just like the crepe t.shirt with layered sleeves which just looks so pretty, and has a nice length for my taller body. Adding in some grey knitwear, I have some ideal layering options to keep me warm whilst I save money on my electric bill!

I’m still not wearing jeans round the house but these River Island black stretchy jeggings are perfect for that dress smarter not harder vibe. The length is perfect and whilst I could I could get away with a size down, they sit comfortably around your midriff without digging in. No one can relax in jeans, but these are a great alternative. On rotation with a white vest and the LTS Bubble sleeved cardigan, which again has a wonderful length to cover my bum and sleeves big enough to hide in, I’d be quite happy to wear this daily.
And finally, the most important part of the capsule wardrobe that ties the whole thing together. In a new colourway called Goat, UGG have continued in my life with yet another pair of sheepskin slippers that I have not taken off. As I always advise, size down as they do stretch with wear but stick to normal size if like me you also live in big chunky socks throughout the day.

Having my independence taken from me from my injury has really affected my life, as you can imagine but I’m not letting it stop my love for fashion and staying stylish even though I’m not going anywhere. Thank you Very for stocking such a great selection of brands with exceptional prices and on trend pieces.
