Also known as the palette that I never realised I needed until now. I know I’m late to the game with this but when this first came out, I was so underwhelmed by it. The colours were nothing special to me, and even though it had that one shade that stood out, I found the Urban Decay Naked Honey to be passable and as such I walked away without a single urge of temptation. The release was met with mixed reviews and many people commented that it was dull and as far as from the Urban Decay brand as you could get. For me, I’ve been wearing Urban Decay for about 20 years and originally it was punky and edgy, with no holds barred pops of glitter and shock value. Although I do have every single Naked palette bar the Reloaded palette, even the thought of not having a complete collection didn’t phase me. But, I cannot resist a bargain so when I caught this in a blog sale with Georgina, I swooped in and Naked Honey was mine.

I would go off first impressions, but honestly my first impressions weren’t great. It’s a neutral palette and as someone who has somewhat of a small addiction to palettes, I didn’t think that it was stand out at all. This is where I seem to have my downfall, because I did exactly the same with Naked Cherry and that has become one of my most used day to day palettes. On second impressions, at home with no pushy sales assistants I had the opportunity to really look at the shades and you know what, I WAS WRONG. 12 honey hued neutral shades, each with a golden shift that pulls the yellow theme to the forefront and that change up a bland neutral eye look into something a little more special.

  • FLYBY – ivory satin
  • SWEET – neutral beige matte
  • SWARM – soft mustard matte
  • AMBER – metallic copper shimmer
  • KEEPER – mustard brown matte
  • GOLDEN – rich gold shimmer
  • HONEY – intense gold metallic
  • QUEEN – golden brown shimmer
  • HIVE – warm brown matte
  • DRIP – warm reddish-brown matte
  • HBIC – rosy bronze shimmer
  • STING – deep warm brown matte

I do think that the Urban Decay Naked Honey didn’t get the reception that it deserves and I am completely in love with how the shades blend together and the number of different looks I can make with the 12 shades. It makes a difference having a warm amber and yellow toned neutral palette to give an extra dimension to a subtle eye look and to give an evening look a bit more oomph, especially when combined with a pop of glitter.

Wear time is really good. I never wear shadows on bare eyelids as I have oily lids, and I only ever wear Urban Decay Primer Potion to help my shadows stick around for hours. I got on average 12 hours of wear from my Urban Decay Naked Honey which is pretty decent, and they work so well together. Shades blend so easily and I didn’t get that much fall out from the darker shades which I do usually find to be quite common with Urban Decay shadows. Overall, I’m pretty impressed.

I’m going to get as much use as I can out of the Urban Decay Naked Honey as there is an Urban Decay Naked Ultraviolet sat on my dressing table waiting to be photographed. What can I say – I love a collection!
