Well, this was an unexpected surprise when I received the brand new Too Faced Born This Way collection prior to it’s release. I actually couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I a parcel that had come across the Atlantic to arrive in a gloomy and dreary Manchester. As you can imagine, I was over the moon and shared every piece on Instagram Stories. However, a collection this beautiful needs to be immortalised in a blog post complete with my honest opinions.

Let’s start with the palette that I never knew I needed, the Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes Eyeshadow Palette. A colour story inspired by the shades of the Born This Way foundation range featuring 16 shades split evenly into matte and shimmer finishes. I don’t think I’ve come across a palette of mixed finishes that has so many mattes and I am living for this goodness. I use the Too Faced Natural Matte palette a lot, and already I have noticed that I have been neglecting it for the Natural Nudes. There’s one shade in particular that has been used a lot and that’s Warm Rose. There’s something about a mauve shade that I cannot get enough of.

There are so many neutral palettes out there that you would question why The Natural Nudes deserves a spot in your palette wardrobe. For me, it’s the fact that that the matte shades are so prevalent with tones that work so beautifully and enhance your natural colouring. Aside from the palest shade Swan which doesn’t show up on my skin tone, each shade just works. From base shades to transitional tones and deeper definition colours, I’ve found that I can get a lot of use out of just eight shades. Each shadow is buttery soft with intense colour payoff and they definitely work better on brush to eye than they do at being swatched on a bare arm.

After I’ve laid down the base, I can go crazy with the shimmer and glitter shades. For a subtle shimmer, use dry on top of the shadow or go crazy with the Too Faced Glitter Glue for a pop of sparkle. Using a damp brush also intensifies the sparkles with the shades Glistening Snow and Rose Gold having the most impact. Wear time is pretty impressive too, I find that I can get a good days wear time with most of the shadows and combined with a good primer, my oily eyelids don’t even get a look in.

One of the most exciting launches has to be the new Too Faced Born This Way Turn Up The Light Skin-Centric highlighting palettes. As someone who owns a lot of highlighters, it doesn’t take much for me to swoon over something shiny. The new palettes come in four shades; Fair, Medium, Tan and Deep and cover all skin tones. I fall into the Medium shade palette but the Tan and Deep shout out to me and will definitely work well when my skin is prepped for summer.

Each palette contains three powders, The middle powder is a finely milled complexion powder that gives that beautiful blurring effect. I can liken these to the Hourglass powders that give a wonderful soft focus finish. The highlight gives a lit from within glow with a subtle lustre whilst the Dazzle shade packs a punch of strobing goodness. This powder is incredibly glittery and not the feint of heart. Infused with coconut water, alpine rose and hyaluronic acid, they feel great on the skin and don’t feel dry or cakey.

I’m so impressed with the Turn up The Light palettes and have been using the Medium palette a lot lately for my incandescent glow. Even on a no make up day, they make such a difference to my skin.
