Stila Autumn Update

Now that it’s autumn, I’ve had a shift around of some of my Stila products. Bringing the more autumnal shades to the front and swapping some powders for Stila cream based makeup. I now have to take into consideration the office days where air conditioning is drying out my skin more than I care for, the weather outside is getting cold and my skin is dry and then also wanting to wear some makeup when I am at home. For this, I love anything cream and anything that can be applied with fingers for a no fuss, 5 minute makeup look. Whilst these products did come out for the summer collection, I looked at them and straight away though ‘autumn’. I have been keeping them safe and unused until now, where they have made the move to my dressing table to be used.

I adore Stila, and I often mention that I have been an OG fan using the brand since 1999 when Stila Lip Glazes were every 16/17 year olds dream. A slick of Lip Glaze, clip my hair back with butterfly clips and throw on my inflatable backpack and I was good to go. Why are they trying to bring back the 90s? Please don’t. Anyway, since the 90s Stila have gone from strength to strength and some of my most used products are from the brand, most specifically the Glitter and Glows which grace my eyes frequently.
Getting into softer, creamier products helps a great deal when you are trying to combat dryness. Moving from matte and full coverage foundations to sheerer tinted moisturisers is the easiest step to encourage your skin to breathe whilst still maintaining the fresh and flawless look you need. The Stila Tinted Moisturiser Skin Balm is a skincare makeup hybrid product, giving you all the benefits of moisturiser but with the healthy sheer coverage of a skin tint. I have this in shade 2 which in all honesty is far too light for me. However when I had the Lingerie Skin Souffle, I had shade 3 and it was somewhat too dark. I really am struggling to get the perfect shade! That being said, a touch of bronzer helps a lot. I do find that I need really well primed skin as it does enhance pores a little. I use my fingers to cover my skin, but you could use your beauty blender or a brush if you wanted. The finish is sheer to light, with a lovely sheen but without any oily shine and gives a good base for further makeup products. It’s that really natural look that makes you second guess if you are wearing makeup or not.
I have spoken about the Stila Complete Harmony Lip and Cheek Sticks previously with my favourite shade being Sheer Peony. I’ve got a new one as I’ve used all my old one up. The most perfect multi use cream stick, I use it as blusher, lip colour and eye colour. It’s the best universal shade and looks amazing on many skin tones. I’m hoping that Stila keep the Complete Harmony sticks in their range as I adore them so much. I have tried some of the other shades but I always end up back at Peony. It’s easy for on the go application, and again using the warmth of your fingers to melt the product into the skin gives a beautiful healthy glow in an instant.
This is a great little palette to have in your handbag, the Stila Putty Blush and Bronzer Duo and I have the shade Bronzed Petunia. Don’t let it’s dinky size put you off, it packs a punch when you need to look alive and awake. Handy for desk to disco, this duo will give you all the warmth you need. The formulation is a bouncy creamy formula that feels airbrushed when applied to the skin. Petunia is definitely a step up from the sheer naturalness of the Complete Harmony Sheer Peony, but although it looks super bright in the pan it’s not as intense when added to your cheeks. I like to pat the bronzer into the areas where the sun hits and blend out with my fingers before adding a flush of colour to the apples of my cheeks. It’s a truly wonderful little palette that everyone should have in their makeup bag.
How gorgeous is the Stila Camouflage Beauty Eye Shadow palette? I know I have so many palettes but I actually don’t think I have many with such a mix of cool and warm toned shadows with bold shade inspired by camouflage. What I can’t get over with the palette is how buttery soft every single shade is and how the shimmers spread like peanut butter. The shimmers are multichromatic so make an impact at every direction and they apply and blend like a dream.
