There was once a time where I used to sit with anticipation for the latest MAC launches Usually released on a Thursday at 12, I was all over it and managed to get many of the most lust after products and limited edition collections. Barbie? Nailed it. Rihanna? Completed it. It’s been a long time since I’ve lusted after a limited edition so when I saw the gorgeous MAC x Rosalia collection, I threw it all in my basket before deliberating over what I really would need. It was a tough decision but I did whittle it right down to just the MAC x Rosalia Highlighting palette, and maybe a cheeky Powder Kiss lipstick ended up in there too. Excited for it to arrive, and MAC delivered. Just two days later my brand new palette was in my hands and it’s gorgeous.

The packaging needs a mention, of course. Ruby red and gold embossed, the highlighter palette is in sturdy cardboard packaging , which opens up to reveal a mirror and the four beautiful shades in a plastic base. It will be handy for travel as it does feel like it has a solidity to it and won’t break up in your bag. It contains 16g of product so you won’t be hitting pan at any time soon.

With it being a limited edition, if it does catch your eye I would suggest getting it sooner rather than later. I have so many highlighters in my stash but I’ve been using this one almost daily, even with sheerer makeup as the shades are so beautiful and they work well as a shadow as well as a blusher. All four shades have a semi opaque to opaque payoff so they really pack a punch. They are a gel- powder hybrid formulation which is something a little different from MAC. When applying you do need to use a denser brush rather than a large fan brush to give that seamless finish that blends out beautifully. The overall effect is more like a cream highlight rather than a powder so I find MAC x Rosalia to be quite special. I also love how they don’t create any further texture on the skin and last throughout the day.

The shades in the palette are all limited edition shades and cannot be bought separately and I haven’t found anything in my stash that is identical as of yet.

Maca – a light but warm yellow gold with a wonderful luminosity

Rose Peach – a warm light peach with luminous sheen. This is the only one that does look similar to others but isn’t exact. Becca Rose Gold is the closest match but this is a little darker with much more shimmer.

Guindilla – My favourite shade of the four which I use as a blush rather than a highlighter. A medium dark and warm coral with a satin finish, making it a perfect blush shade.

Meil de Azhar – A deeper copper with a golden bronze shimmer and luminous finish. This is a stunning shade, and one that’s good for the eyes.

Aside from Maca, I will get a lot of use out of the rest of the shades. I would have to use Maca sparingly and as you can see from the swatches, on my skin tone is is quite yellowy. It would make a good inner corner highlight though. It’s such a beautiful palette and I’m so pleased that MAC have brought out this collection. If you haven’t taken a look yet, check out the MAC x Rosalia collection. I particularly like the eyeshadow palette but cannot justify it when I have so many similar already, and I love the nail polishes but alas, I wear gels!

Let me know what you buy from the collection!
