Bobbi Brown Picks for your Lockdown Looks

With the news that we are heading on the road out of lockdown, it has brought to light just how lax I have become with my makeup and generally keeping myself looking pristine. Whilst my skincare has been somewhat minimal, my makeup application has been completely not existent. In my defence, I have been covered in paint for the most of 2021 so far. With the thought that I will need to start being a more polished at the forefront of my mind, I have put together my picks from Bobbi Brown for how I’m going to take that step back into the ‘real world’.
I’ve really gotten into the Bobbi Brown skincare range lately and I’ve found some products that have changed my skin during these cold and dry months. I did treat myself to a bottle of the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Toner to complete my new three step system to combatting dry skin – more on that at a later date. The Hydrating Toner has cucumber, chamomile and lavender to help sooth skin with Vitamin B5 to soften and condition. It’s absolutely lovely and I prefer to put a few drops into my hands and press into my skin immediately after cleansing. I’ve always used the same toner and go back to the same one over and over but the Bobbi Brown has swooped in and taken first place. I would actually love this in a spray bottle for when it’s warm as I just love the signature scent from the skincare range. Delicious.
Whilst the weather has been so drying, I’ve had to up the ante when it comes to hydration. I just feel so dry and I find that I can’t skip a step in my skincare otherwise I feel all shrivelled up. This year is the first year that I have been using the Bobbi Brown skincare range and I have kind of fallen for the Extra Repair Serum. A lightweight milky serum that absorbs into the skin with ease, that has been designed for all skin types from normal to extra dry. As my skin is sitting on the extra dry and dehydrated side at the moment, it’s been a godsend for me as it isn’t heavy or weighty when applied. It’s very comforting, from the beautiful scent to the intense shot of hydration from the wheat bran, meadow foam seed oil and olive oil formulation. Clary sage helps to clear the complexion whilst vitamin C and peptides help attack fine lines and wrinkles. As I haven’t been wearing makeup lately, it’s been a welcome daily treat to combat the dehydration that has been caused from the central heating on high and the dry, bitter winds outside. I like to use the Bobbi Brown Skin Nourish Mask and follow with the Extra Repair Serum for a little treat.
There’s one beauty treatment that I have been keeping on top of and that’s my brows. Those daily Teams meetings will see me in pj’s, bare faced and with wet hair but I will always have my brows brushed through and filled in. I have decided that out of all the brow products that I have tried over the years, the one thing that works for me better than anything else is good old soap brows. A bar of Pears soap, some setting spray or water and a spoolie gives me the most incredible fluffy brows that stay in place all day. I do need a little help to fill in the gaps and at the moment, I’m back on my old faithful, the Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined LongWear Brow Pencil in Saddle. I’ve lost count of how many of these pencils I have had over the years and for good reason. A wonderfully waxy formulation, a shape that means you can draw the finest of hairs and it does not budge. The waxy formula means that once it has been applied, it sits in place and doesn’t move. Waterproof, smudge proof and sweat proof, it’s perfect for long days. The slant tip means that you can quickly fill in the brows but use the pointed end for more precise application. What I will say is that I find this pencil to be somewhat magic in how long it lasts. It’s never ending.
I’m having to start to introduce myself back to makeup but I’m taking it slow. Skincare, I’m on top of. Brows – all sorted. Maybe a touch of mascara. The one thing I’m not ready for is a face full of foundation but I do need a little help when it comes to making myself look fresh and awake. Cracking out the big guns with the cult classic Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit, this set is ideal for a touch up of those areas where you need some brightening. In a shade lighter than your foundation shade for under eye, the cream concealer will give the illusion of wide awake, bright and flawless skin that doesn’t settle into fine lines. The accompanying powder helps set everything in place and as it’s in a yellow tone, it also helps to brighten the under eye area. The formulation of the cream concealer has a soft focus, blurring effect that banishes dark circles and makes you look well rested. I prefer to add the cream concealer with a fluffy brush to blur out but get full coverage in the areas that need the help. I’m keeping this kit to hand for the foreseeable as if I can get away without wearing foundation and can just rely on concealer then I’ll be a happy girl.
Have you tried any of my Bobbi Brown picks?
