Axis-Y: K-Beauty Skincare Review

There has been a shift in my skincare and it appears that Korean skincare has taken over the bathroom shelves, the bedroom vanity and my life. My latest find is a brand called AXIS-Y and not only are the products fantastic but the brand itself has stood out to me with its ethos that beauty is not about following a beauty standard, but it’s about inclusivity, free spiritedness and of course, personality. They also take influence from climate and how the stressors, pollution and climate change can impact our skin.
AXIS-Y has developed a range of products with clean, natural formulations at the forefront. Free from parabens and SLS, artificial oils & mineral oils, artificial fragrances and derived from the safest and most natural plant derived ingredients, it’s bringing the cleanest of formulations to it’s loyal customer base. With this clean formulation, it means that all products are cruelty free and vegan. All products are tested before release by the Korea Dermatology Research Institute (KDRI).

AXIS-Y
AXIS-Y have been incredibly generous and have sent me three products to try out to get a feel for the brand. I’ve been trying them over the last four or five weeks and I am so incredibly impressed with what I have seen. The three products that I have been using are below, but they have a great range of other skincare products that focus on particular needs such as hydration and calming.

AXIS-Y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen SPF50+
Sunscreen is the IT Girl at the moment which is funny because it’s a product that I use daily without needing to shout about it. I do flit between a lower SPF when I’m at home and the highest when I leave the house and AXIS-Y has slipped into my routine really well.
Base ingredients: Calendula, Grape, Green Tea, Chamomile, Squalane, Allantoin. Core ingredient: Mugwort. Effective technology: SYN-COLL.
It’s got a lovely texture that feels quite thick on first application until it starts to spread over the skin leaving a lightweight and non greasy finish. It does feel somewhat sticky at first and I do find that it leaves a very feint light cast. It sits on top of other skincare products without pilling and makeup applies beautifully over the top.
Luckily, we’ve been having some glorious weather in the UK where temperatures have been hitting the high 20s and I’ve been treating myself to some outside time. I’m so pleased to say that although I have developed some colour, I haven’t burnt and my skin hasn’t suffered at all.
AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum
I’m always looking for a glow in my skincare and if I can achieve that alongside dewy skin then it’s a winner for me. The Dark Spot Correcting serum definitely intrigued me as I do have some pigmentation that I would love to disappear.
Base ingredients: Squalane, Papaya, Sea Buckthorn, Rice Bran, Allantoin, Calendula. Core ingredient: Niacinamide (5%). Effective technology: Niacinamide + Rice Bran.
A lightweight, non sticky formulation that sinks into skin quickly and leaves skin looking dewy with a nice hydrated feel. I’m not sure on the scent as I feel it does smell a little clinical but that does disappear quickly.
The strength of the Niacinamide is stronger than any of the products that I have been using so it’s a definite winner for getting the properties from this active ingredient. As I’ve been using it for a few weeks, I am starting to see a change in my skin in that it looks more even but I am using this in combination with other products. The hydration and moisture levels are lovely, but I don’t think that I get as much of a glow from this as I do from other vitamin C products.
AXIS-Y Spot The Difference Blemish Treatment
I’m extremely lucky in that I don’t suffer from skin that gets many blemishes but they do appear every now and again and I am so happy that I have Spot the Difference in my life. Aside from the fantastic name, this product is an actual wonder product.
Base ingredients: Tea Tree Extract, Green Tea Leaf, Camphor Leaf, Mentha Aquatica, Licorice Root, Broadleaf Bamboo. Core ingredient: 4-Terpineol. Effective technology: PHYTO-OLIGO 1%.
A clear liquid with suspended pink particles in a concentrated form, you apply the product to your finger before applying to the blemish. It takes the redness away so quickly whilst reducing the tenderness and stresses around the area. I’m very careful with the dropper to make sure it doesn’t touch affected skin to keep the product free from any bacteria and germs.
Whilst I don’t suffer from severe blemishes or acne, I think that this is an excellent product to keep in your bathroom cabinets for breakouts as it works so quickly. I’m very impressed!
After trying out these products, I will definitely be heading back to AXIS-Y to try some of the hydrating and calming ranges. Have you tried anything from the brand before? Let me know if you have any recommendations.
