When you step into a room, what’s the first thing that immediately catches your eyes? There’s a chance that it just might be the walls, right? The walls of the space are one of the biggest components of what makes it up. This can help with setting the colour, lighting, atmosphere, and so much more. If you’re wanting to bring more of your own personality into space then the wall is a good place to start. These are some handy tips on some ways that you can remove those bare walls and spruce them up.

Consider getting some wallpaper

Wallpaper has been a trend for a long time. It is a great way to add some personality to your home. But, with the recent surge of interior design trends, wallpaper is no longer the only option for sprucing up your walls but it’s still considered to be one of the very best ways, however.  Wallpapers come in a variety of different styles and patterns.

You can choose from traditional or modern patterns, as well as colours that will complement any decor. Wallpapers are best used in small to medium-sized rooms because they can be hard to remove once you’ve put them up on the wall.

Gallery walls are in right now and one of the best things about them is the fact that there aren’t any set rules on how to create one. You can use square photo prints, posters, but even go as far as just using decorative accents. A whole wall of fun decorative accents is still considered a gallery wall. This is something that you can just have fun with and display anything and everything that you’d like to display. You can even add a layer of sophistication by ensuring that everything is nicely placed and orderly on the wall as well.

Paint

Why not try freshening up your walls with some paint. Usually, the standard colour for a wall is white. While there isn’t anything necessarily wrong with white, the colour itself can be quite bland. One of the beauties of painting a wall is the fact that you can make a major transformation to a space and it’s still going to be cheaper compared to something like wallpaper.

You can expect to spend no more than one to two days at most painting your walls and then you can have a fantastic new atmosphere immediately brought to your space.  You can even go as far as just painting a mural on your wall!

Wall panelling

Wall panelling is slowly gaining some popularity as this is a great way to bring some more details and depth into a space. You can go for something a little funky such as shiplap wall panelling as this can add a more coastal look to your space which can be perfect for living rooms, dining rooms, and even entryways.

Shelving

Bookshelves, floating shelves, and all of the other shelves in between. Since shelves are usually leaning or mounted up against walls, they can also be a great addition to adding some more colour and personality to the wall. These can include showing off plants, decorations, photos, or anything else to your liking.
