What You Should Think About When Planning Your Big Day
Planning your wedding is one of the most exciting things that you will get to do in your life, and if you have recently got engaged and not sure where to start, we have put together some of our top tips of the main things you need to think about. There is a lot to think about when planning a wedding and for most people they don’t know where to start, so it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We have put together some of our top tips to ensure that your wedding planning keeps enjoyable and fun.
Organisation
The most important thing to think about and remember is to be organised and plan early for your wedding day, this will ensure that nothing is left to the last minute and you won’t be stressed as it gets closer. Many wedding venues and suppliers get booked up early, sometimes a year or so in advance so it’s a good idea to get these things booked early so that you can organise your date and have something to work towards. Once these things have been booked and you have a date organised you can think about you would like to be part of your special day. You will need to sit down as a couple and think about who you want to ask to be your bridesmaids, groomsmen, maid of honour, best man etc. They will be the people that mean the most to you, but if you only want one bridesmaid for example, there isn’t any reason why you need to have more than one.
Look at hiring a wedding planner
Obviously this is something that will depend entirely on your budget, but if you are really unsure where to start you could look at hiring a wedding planner. They will be able to give you guidance, help you to stick to your budget and ensure that your day runs smoothly and nothing is forgotten. There are plenty of independent planners that will work closely with you to make sure that you have the most amazing day and they will take care of all of the planning for you
Choosing a wedding venue
One of the most exciting things to think about when you are planning your wedding day is where you want to get married and there are so many options out there! You can search online for inspiration and put together a list of venues you want to visit, also it’s a good excuse to go on plenty of day trips with your partner and visit lots of beautiful locations. Depending on your budget you may want to look at a variety of dates as some venues offer a discount for choosing a midweek date.
When you are thinking about your ideal venue you will need to take into account how many people you will be inviting to your day as this will help with the venue and rooms you choose. If you want to have a small and intimate wedding then you could look at cosy, exclusive use venues, or even outside spaces in bigger venues. If you do really have your heart set on a grand venue then you could look at all the different rooms that they have available for you to hire.
Time of the year
There are plenty of options when it comes to choosing your venue and the time of year that you decide to get married will have an impact on this. If you want to get married in summer you could look at outside venues such as woodland areas, or private gardens. These would work well if you want to have a boho themed wedding.
Food
Choosing your menu options for your wedding day is a big decision and you need to think about all of your guests and what they would want to eat. Depending on who you invite too, you will need to take into consideration the range of dietary requirements that your guests will have. If you have a certain cuisine in mind you could liaise with the chef at your venue and some may put together a bespoke menu for you.
Research and book your suppliers
Many wedding suppliers will get booked up months and even years in advance so you may need to be flexible if there is a particular supplier that you want to be involved with your wedding. If you are not sure what you want on your special day, a great way to get inspiration is to attend wedding fairs. Once you have found suppliers that you like, make sure that you chat to them, look at their reviews and make sure that they are the right supplier for you.
