Bobbi Brown – Beautiful Skin
There’s one thing that 2020 has made me appreciate and that’s how much I love my skin. I was always that person who needed foundation on to leave the house and to make myself feel better about how I looked. It’s amazing how much society plays on your mind and internalises these feelings when in actual fact, the only person who cares is you. Taking a step back from not having to wear a full face of makeup each day has been a blessing. I’ve allowed my skin to breathe and combined with a very good skincare routine, I look at my face now and I’m so happy with how my bare face looks. I’ve always been an advocate of when sharing images of my face that images are not filtered so you can see every pore and line. I want others to look at my skin and realise life isn’t all Instagram filters and flawless wiped out faces. Texture is real. When it comes to enhancing my skin, a medium coverage is all that I need, combined with some skincare prep and a touch of glow and that’s where Bobbi Brown comes in for beautiful, natural looking skin.
The key to a flawless base is prepping your skin beforehand. I’ve found that the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Fresh Water Cream has become my new best friend for pre makeup prep. Made with over 70% water, the lightweight cream balances skin, reduces redness and gives a beautiful blank canvas for foundation. It contains hyaluronic acid and hydra-essence to give an intense shot of moisture, probiotics to strengthen and repair the skin’s moisture barrier and protect throughout the day. The clary sage soothes and winter rose smoothes. It’s literal perfection. It’s a new product for Bobbi Brown but I can see it being a Can’t Live Without wonder product.
I’ve used the Bobbi Brown Skin Long Wear Lightweight Foundation for such a long time now and previously, I wore the shade Beige. Beige was the absolute true match to my skin but I do like my foundation to be a touch warmer so I’ve changed my shade to Natural. When you look at the two shades next to each other, it’s a very slight difference in tone but on the skin, it just gives that something extra. There are a whopping 43 shades in the Skin Long Wear foundation as well as a shade finder on the website, which helped me choose my latest shade. I like to apply with a brush and buff it into the skin, and whilst it will give a full coverage it’s buildable so you can go slightly sheerer. Once applied, a matte finish is present but as it still looks like skin, you can still see your natural glow. I will always choose a matte foundation over a glowy finish, I prefer to create my own glow with further products so Skin Long Wear Lightweight is ideal. I also find that due to the coverage, additional products such as concealer can be forgotten if you wanted a quick makeup look before you leave the house. Or in my case, sit around the house! For a matte foundation, it’s hydrating and does dry down or go patchy and I find that I’m still looking as fresh as I did at application several hours later with no touch ups. It’s a genius product and back in the days where I used to go out to work, I applied the liquid foundation in the morning and had the Skin Foundation Stick in my handbag for after work socialising touch ups.
For my glow, I’ve turned to one of Bobbi Browns best selling and iconic products; the Shimmer Brick Compact in Pink Quartz. The lightest shade of the three options, I like to use an angled powder brush to pick up all five colours and diffuse them across my cheekbones. You can use this a light blush or over the top of your blusher. You can also pick up the lighter shades to use as a more intense highlighter on cheekbones, brow bones and the inner eye. The overall effect is a subtle rosy glow, that catches the light and flatters you skin. There’s no wonder that it’s a cult classic.
I’m so proud to be working alongside Bobbi Brown, one of my favourite brands, as a Brand Ambassador to bring to you my favourites and show you how the products work. The three products today are your three must haves for beautiful skin, to enhance your natural beauty rather than cover it up. I will be sharing the Christmas palette collections soon, so do keep an eye out.
There’s currently 25% off site wide for Black Friday weekend at the moment too.
