Getting Ready for Christmas: What I’ve Learned
Christmas seems to come earlier and earlier every year. These days it seems it’s here even before Halloween’s over – or at least as soon as. The morning after Halloween, all of the supermarkets have got rid of all their pumpkins and there’s nothing spooky in sight, and there are Christmas trees everywhere.
Even though the holidays are still weeks away, you still need to get ready, so here are some tips to beat the Christmas rush.

Don’t Shop Till You Drop
Some people like to start their Christmas preparations early, buying all their presents in January and relaxing for the rest of the year. Not everyone does that though – I certainly don’t. I don’t leave my shopping until Christmas Eve, either. Once Halloween’s out of the way is a good time to start. If you haven’t already decided what you’re getting for your loved ones, then start planning.
…Especially because Black Friday and Cyber Monday are fast approaching. This year, the shopping event is on the 29th of November and the 2nd of December. You can expect deals and sales are exclusive to those days, with some only lasting a few minutes. You can read more about it at https://www.telegraph.co.uk/black-friday/0/black-friday-2019-date-do-sales-start-find-best-deals/. It’s followed by Cyber Monday a few days later, which is a great day to get some bargains online when it comes to smartphones, gadgets, PCs and even video games.
Plan The Perfect Party
Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year – and everyone’s got office parties to go to! So if you haven’t planned your Christmas party yet, get planning. If you’re booking a table at a restaurant, you’ll need to book early – the earlier the better – and make sure you send invitations out in advance so none of the guests can say they’ve got something else on.
If you’re going out for a meal with your friends, think about what kind of food you want. Do you want to go traditional, and have a Christmas dinner? Or do you want something else? People will be going to more than one Christmas do, after all, and you can always have too much of a good thing. Get Into The Christmas Spirit
Once you’ve done your shopping and planned your parties, it’s time to put your feet up and enjoy the festive season. There are plenty of ways of doing that, whether it’s listening to one of your favourite Christmas songs, like Last Christmas or Fairytale of New York, or playing a Christmassy game like Santa’s Spins or Very Merry Christmas, which you can find online at https://bingo.paddypower.com/. They’re full of fun festive characters and could even potentially give you a little more spending money.
You could also sit back and put on a Christmas film, but you don’t have to watch one that’s cheesy and schmaltzy – there are plenty of them to suit all tastes. Instead, find one that’s not a traditional Christmas film. Die Hard’s set at Christmas, after all, and who doesn’t love seeing Bruce Willis save the day? Other alternative Christmas films include Gremlins and Edward Scissorhands.
Christmas is a magical time of year so, hopefully, these tips have made you more excited and not more stressed. Whatever you’re doing to celebrate, I’d like to be the first to wish you a Merry Christmas!
