It’s that time of year where I amp up my false tan usage and fake my way to a golden glow. With the distinct lack of sun and cold chill in the air, my body has gone from golden bronze to translucent. There is hope on the horizon with my upcoming trip to Australia next month but in the meantime, I’m having to spend a little extra time with the pampering and hitting the bottle. Literally. Skinny Tan has entered my life recently and I’ve been favouring the products over some of my Holy Grails which has come at a bit of a surprise. Skinny Tan isn’t just tan, there’s a whole range of body products too and I’m going to talk you through the products that have become very well used in my house.

Preparation before tanning is extremely important and I cannot recommend a full exfoliate prior to tanning application. My first step is to remove any old tan by using the Skinny Tan Exfoliating Mitt. This mitt is the dream and I wish I had known about this much earlier than I did. The brown side gives a light exfoliate to remove dead skin and rough patches of skin whilst the orange side tackles left over tan especially around the ankles, elbows and knees. Combined with the Skinny Tan Cleansing Moisture Wash, my skin is tan free, smooth and moisturised in one shower. The Moisture Wash smells like tropical holidays, and due to the Coconut Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil, Aloe Vera and Guarana, it not only helps with a prepped base for tanning but it leaves skin hydrated so the lifespan of your tan is prolonged.

Back in the day, I was always advised to not moisturise prior to tanning application unless it was those drier areas such as knees, ankles and elbows yet now, I find that the ‘priming’ step is becoming more important as formulations of tan have improved. I’ve been using the Skinny Tan Moisture Hit Body Lotion as my priming step and it means that I’m getting the essential moisture post shower but I’m also getting a longer and even tan. A little goes a long way and the drier areas are drinking it up for an even and flawless tan.

There is just one tan at the moment that is getting my undivided attention and I have been lucky enough to have been trialling this since it’s launch and before it even had its final bottle design. Since these images were taken, I’ve been out to Boots to pick up another bottle as I’ve used so much! The Skinny Tan Wonder Serum is legit one of the best tans that I have ever used. It’s a brand new formulation combining a serum with anti oxidant, anti ageing and hydrating essential ingredients with a false tan than develops within 6 hours. It has a guide colour so you can see exactly where it has been applied as well as a shimmering bronze finish so you look glowy before your tan develops. The tan lasts for a good 6 days and I do like to do two coats for maximum colour. The colour is medium dark when it develops and I love how it has no tinge of orange. It’s literally perfect. It is exclusive to Boots at the moment alongside the body care so you can often find it on offer which is always a bonus!

For my face, I have found that the Skinny Tan Coconut Tanning Water has been working out really well for me. The fine mist can be sprayed on and rubbed in with ease without leaving streaky marks or developing into too dark a colour. It also works over the top of the Wonder Serum if you needed a little top up. The tan develops as you wear it, so it really is a spray and go and the scent is pure coconut and holidays. With every tan session I have, I also use the Skinny Tan Dual Sided Tanning Mitt for an even and easy application. Whilst I do have several of these mitts, I have found that as they wash so easily, I’m not going through as many mitts as before which has meant less wastage from throwing them away when they’ve split or stained that much that they are unusable.

The final product from Skinny Tan that I have nothing but love for is the exclusive to Boots Skinny Tan Melting Moisture Body Balm. I’ve used this to death and it’s been perfect for post tanning as well as during summer to enhance my legs. The balm is non greasy and a small amount is needed to give wonderful shine and a glossy finish to the skin. It’s melts withb warm fingertips and it lasts so long on the skin even though it soaks in. It also helps with the prolonging of the tan as it keeps skin feeling its best.
