I received an email last week from Benefit giving me the chance to bag the new Rockateur cheek powder on the One Day Flash Sale. The Flash Sale was being held at 14 stores across the UK and Ireland including my local Boots store in Manchester.
Rockateur is a rosé gold shimmery blush set inside the traditional Benefit Box O Powder. The powder is multi faceted which shows off the different tones within the blush. Imprinted with the word ‘Rock’, it is a gorgeous addition to the collection. As usual, it comes with its own mini brush and mirror in the lid for easy application on the go.
The first thing I noticed about the blusher however was how thin the depth of the powder was even though the price is the same as the others. The usual Benefit blushers seem to have a lot more product when you look at the in the box. After doing a bit of research online, I have found that there is a lot less product than the usual boxes and when questioned, Benefit have responded with the following:
‘Hey gals…we understand your concerns regarding Rockateur sizing; however, we’ve never made any secret of the fact that our box o’ powders are different sizes in weight terms, it’s actually printed on the front of each box.
This is because of two main reasons; firstly, experience showed us that some of our soft formulas have a tendency to ‘crack up’ if the ‘pan’ in which they sit is too deep. The second reason is simply down to the different formulas in each’.

Although it may seem that I’m not getting enough blush for my buck, this doesn’t distract from how beautiful the blush actually is.
When I have swatched it on my hand, the camera doesn’t pick it up very well, however whilst wearing it, I kept noticing how natural yet ‘made up’ I looked when applied. I will try to get a decent picture whilst wearing it as soon as I can.
I’m going to try and wear this blush all the time, just to give an indication how long it lasts compared to Bella Bamba and Coralista, my other two favourites.
If Rockateur is the blush for you, I’m afraid you will have to wait until September until it goes on general release. I think it’s definitely worth the wait however, as I am totally in love!
