The 2016 January Birchbox x Pinterest

Oh Pinterest, you really are a platform that I should start spending more time on. I generally tend to use it to plan my dream house and my dream kitchen, usually when I can’t sleep. I’ve been known to compile boards filled with wanderlust inducing beaches and wishlists of make up that I really don’t need but can’t live without. Overall, Pinterest is my happy place, a source of my inspiration and of course, every bloggers dream. When I saw that this months Birchbox was a collaboration with Pinterest, and the tagline ‘Best Year Ever’, I knew that it was going to be a good box. Lets take a look inside and see what goodies we have to try for January.

Upon opening the cardboard box that my Birchbox was delivered in, I was excited to see another themed box. Gone are the days of plain boxes it seems, and I think it’s the way forward. There have been some fabulous designs over the last twelve months and the Pinterest inspired box is no exception. From inspirational quotes to very ‘Pinteresty’ images, it’s bright and welcoming. The first thing that I saw when I opened the box was the cute little postcards, that immediately reminded me of Jemma from Dorkface although they were drawn by illustrator Viktorija Semjonova, that have been designed to inspire you every day. I’m going to be putting mine on my fridge.

This products have come in really handy for me this month as I was running low on my travel sized minis, however I have already tried three products out of the five. Now, it’s not a bad thing at all as the duplicate items have been products that I have loved so I’m keen to have a back up. The first product that made me do a little squeee was seeing the deluxe sample sized Benefit They’re Real Lash Primer. As a Benebabe, I have been lucky enough to have been trying out the Lash Primer since last autumn before its Christmas release date. I still need to do a full post for you because it is all sorts of wonderful. I’m not going to say much more, but you should check back soon for a full lowdown.

The second duplicate that I saw was the Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner. This cropped up in a box from last Autumn, although I can’t think which one and at first I was a bit meh about it. Having used the skinny liner and finding it ok rather than mind blowing, I didn’t have high hopes for the fat liner. Whilst having a play around one day, I picked up said liner and just casually drew a line across my eye. Well, blow me down with a feather – the most amazing, perfectly formed cat eye in one swipe. Impressed is not the word. So, again, I’m grateful for the back up.

The third duplicate comes in the form of the Caudalie Fleur de Vigne Body Wash. When I first started using Caudalie, I really did not get the hype as to why all bloggers seemed to be in love with it but slowly, over the years, I’ve began to appreciate its gentle goodness and beautifully scented products. I really like how gentle it is and how soothing it can be on skin that has been out in the sun.

A Birchbox Exclusive, the Parlor Moisturizing and Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner are an unknown brand to me yet I am really looking forward to trying more. The scent of these is just divine, and its meant to be sweet peach and mown grass. They smell clean and delectable and both products have left my hair feeling shiny and smooth with no heaviness.

The final beauty product in this months Birchbox is the Absolution L’Eay Soir et Matin cleansing water. A handy little bottle to have, and it makes easy work of dissolving layers of make up and mascara. What I like about this is thatbit doesn’t leave a sticky residue on my face after cleansing and it cuts through stubborn eye make up without having to pull or drag on delicate skin.

As a little beauty bonus, the Birchbox compact mirror has been added to this months box complete with a quirky hashtag design #NoFilter. I’ve already popped it in my handbag for on the go touch ups.

If you want to become one of Birchboxes one million subscribers, then you can sign up to a box using my referral link. If you use my referral link, you not only get your box but you’ll also receive £5 worth of points to spend in the Birchbox shop.

  • The eyeko liner sounds like one that’s deserves a chance, I’ve never really given it much thought because of the name but if you can just draw a line and it can be that easy then I’m in! x

  • I never really understood these types of boxes with just samples in because usually they cost so much it seems to have gotten better because i remember the days of these boxes on containing samples you could easily have gotten from a counter in a store for free
