Tarte Radiance from The Rainforest Collection

Tarte Cosmetics have been on my radar for rather a long period of time. Having chance to browse Sephora and Macy’s, the option to buy has always been there, yet my love for Tarte really hasn’t reached it’s full potential. I own one item from Tarte, the Tarteist Clay Eyeliner which has absolutely brilliant staying power as well as an angled brush to apply super sharp wings easily. I’ve been tempted in the past by Park Avenue Princess, a subtle and beautiful shade that spans across a range of lipstick, contour products and bronzers. But, I’ve still not been tempted. QVC is the only place that sells Tarte in the UK, and it has some brilliant deals when it comes to savings on the Tarte best sellers. Two weeks ago, the TSV was for a six piece set at an incredible value price, and guess what… Tempted much? You bet I was!

For £39 plus P&P, the Tarte Radiance from The Rainforest Collection was an absolute bargain, at almost half the price. The set is still available, but it has gone back to the retail price of £70, which to be fair is still a bargain as the foundation works out to be around £30. In a gold Tarte make up bag, there are five make up items and a dual ended makeup brush. It’s quite a set.

The main item in the set which I was desperate to try was the Rainforest of The Sea Water Foundation. I’ve heard really good things about this foundation as well as the concealer which I’m now tempted to buy. My foundation is in the shade Light-Medium Honey which is perfect for my skin tone, and it gives a full, even coverage with a minimal amount of product. The water infused foundation stops skin from drying out and skin looks hydrated and flawless. I prefer to drop two drops of foundation on the end of the Double Ended Complexion Brush and buff into my skin for a smooth finish. I’m totally in love with the brush at the minute, as it makes light work of buffing foundation into the skin, without leaving streaks.

The collection also contains a dual ended Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara in Black and an Opening Act Lash Primer. Again, the mascara has been raved about by many bloggers and friends, so I’m really looking forward to giving this a try once I’ve had my lash extensions removed. I’ve not used a white lash primer in an age, so I’m excited to see how this fares against previous versions that I’ve tried.

I have been really impressed by the Amazonian Clay Silk Eyeliner in Black. Just like the Tarteist Clay Liner, it doesn’t budge. The automatic wind up pencil has a smudger on the end to create a sexy smokey eye, but I will warn you that you need to smudge quickly. Once it’s dry, it’s impossible to move and blend, meaning that it stays in place all day. Perfect.

The Tarte Coconut Oil Lipstick in Rosy Mauve has a lovely formulation, and you can tell from first application that it’s infused with coconut oil. It glides onto the lips, and stays quite well, but as it does have a glossy cream formula, it does have a tendency to slide off quite quickly. The shade is so pretty and makes a wonderful day to day colour for a touch of pink on the lips.

Finally, the Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow and Blush palette which I was dying to play with as soon as it arrived. With an Amazonian Clay Blush in Mystified; a rosy mauve, it is slightly too pale for my skin tone. It would be better suited to a lighter and cooler toned wearer but it also doubles up as an eyeshadow. The shadows in the palette are a mixture of matte and shimmer. Tide (pale pink), Sunset (taupe), Sandcastle (brown), Reflection (lavender shimmer), Horizon (pale plum) and Driftwood (dark plum) are all velvety to the touch and highly pigmented, and they apply like a dream.

For just under £40, I’m really pleased that I spotted this Tarte Radiance from The Rainforest Collection as I love it. It’s a great way to try out several products from the range without purchasing full size and full price items, plus the limited edition palette is gorgeous. If you didn’t want to spend £70 on the set, QVC do have the foundation and brush available for £32 as well as several other sets from Tarte exclusive to QVC.
