Over the last few months, I have been working closely with a company based in the USA who specialise in teeth whitening. Smile Brilliant promise a professional teeth whitening service at home with custom made whitening trays, without having to go to the dentist. Last summer I had my teeth whitened by Sure Smiles, and although they turned out to be a lovely white colour, they faded after 8 weeks or so and left my teeth feeling quite sensitive after using the UV laser on them. I want to get my teeth back to the same level of whiteness that the Sure Smiles procedure gave me, but without the sensitivity or having to go to a salon for the treatment. Being able to whiten your teeth at home is a great luxury, and Smile Brilliant guarantee professional whitening within 30 days of treatment.
The process starts with the Smile Brilliant box arriving from the USA to your house. Inside the box is everything you need to create custom trays, as well as the teeth whitening and desensitizing gels. Creating the custom made trays are a lot easier than expected and although I was quite nervous about them, they worked out well and the trays fit perfectly. The catalyst paste gets added to the blue paste and mixed to form a light blue putty. This is then placed into the mould before making the impressions. The box contains enough to make three putties, one for the upper set of teeth, one for the lower and one in case you make a mistake. The process of making the impressions is a little dribbly to say the least so having some tissue or a towel on hand is best. Once the impressions were made, I left them to set before rinsing, and popping them back in the pack ready to be posted off to the USA. Between sending off my impressions and receiving my custom made trays back was around 10 days, which I think is exceptionally good service for UK-USA post. Smile Brilliant even posted back my clay impressions, for the purpose of the blog post, which is so cool to see how they do it. It has also highlighted just how much I need to get braces!
Due to work commitments and dental treatments, I haven’t had the time to invest into whitening my teeth but that is all about to change. I’m planning on using the whitening treatment twice or three times a week, for around 15-30 minutes, depending on how long I can keep the moulds in my mouth – I have a strong gag reflex! Whilst my teeth aren’t particularly discoloured, from what I have seen online, I am expecting some pretty awesome results. I will get some before and afters taken on my catch up post.
Smile Brilliant at home dental whitening kit costs £79.93 for custom fitted trays and 3 whitening syringes. Sets with 6 and 9 syringes are also available, costing £92.79 and £102.73 respectively. Each 3ml syringe contains approximately 3 treatments, however I have used it twice so far and still have plenty left.
