Ah another monthly box for my perusal. This time I’ve gone for Birchbox and their latest offering (and because I had a discount code to get the box for £5 including delivery). Its no big surprise that the monthly boxes get mixed reviews. A selection of sample products with one or two full sized products for on average £10 per month is not going to thrill or please everybody. Many months ago, when Birchbox was known as Jolie Box, I received some really good boxes which culminated in me having a four drawer storage system full of samples. I cancelled my sub for no other reason than I had way too much stuff to get through, however for £5, I thought I was definitely taking advantage of this months.
The Birchbox comes in its signature recycled paper box which is safely packaged in its bright minty green postage box. The products are protected by a drawstring bag, nestled within the Birchbox, alongside the information card and mini magazine. I really do like attention to detail and nice packaging, so thumbs up for that.
Inside my box I got the following products
Reverence de Bastien Nail varnish, full size, worth £16
Bioderma Sensibo H20, 20ml, full size worth £9.99
Model Co. Lipstick, full size, £15.50 for a set of three
Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Gel, 40ml, full size worth £31
Molton Brown Ylang-Ylang Body lotion, 30ml, full size worth £18
Green and Blacks white chocolate sample
My thoughts on this box are quite good for a change. Usually I’m a bit negative as some churn out the same old samples but the products I received, I am more than happy with.
The nail varnish is a beautiful plum purple colour and will be lovely for winter. I’m going to try it out this weekend and let you know my thoughts.
I’ve never tried Bioderma as I never got sucked into the hype, although I have been using La Roche Posay Micellar solution for quite a while now. It will be nice to compare and again, I’ll report back.
The Model Co. lipstick is a bit wishy washy. Its very glossy and not very long lasting but the colour is a nice nude and it feels quite moisturing when worn.
The body gel smells divine and I’m currently slathering it on before bed. The essential oils are perfect for helping me feel relaxed and ready for bed.
Molton Brown Ylang-Ylang is one of my favourite products. I use it on a regular basis, so this miniature is ideal for keeping in my work suitcase for when I’m away.
The chocolate lasted all of 10 seconds before I inhaled the lot. Yum 😉
For £5 I really cannot complain about the September Birchbox at all. I’ve found that I wait until the boxes have been dispatched and shown online before I buy them now. I can’t be doing with any surprises when they end up as disappointments but I do love having a monthly box to try. Win-win situation I think!
