Michael Bublé. The elusive man who hides away for much of the year until he makes his annual appearance near Christmas, with his Christmas hits and suave, seductive photo shoots and TV appearances. I do love the Bublé and I have had the pleasure of meeting him in Selfridges of all places, whilst he bought a handbag for his wife. With recent news hitting the headlines about the health of his son, it’s really quite upsetting to think about what he is going through, so first of all, I send all my well wishes and hope that everything will be ok for his lovely family. In support of Mr Bublé, I’ve been wearing his new scent, Michael Bublé By Invitation. A soft, romantic and elegant fragrance, a bit like the man himself.
I don’t usually go for celebrity endorsed scents, as many times, they do have a habit of letting me down or being a cheaper version of an old favourite. I can thankfully confirm that Michael Bublé By Invitation is a gorgeous as the man himself. The top notes open with red fruits and bergamot, which makes the scent almost sparkle across the skin. Heart notes fall into a more floral blend of Lily Of The Valley, peony, rose and jasmine which then settle down into a rich and heady sweetness of praline, vanilla, sandalwood and musk. To me, it smells very similar to Marc Jacobs Decadence, and each and every time I wear it, my first thought are that I’m wearing Decadence. Not a bad thing, as it is a well loved scent but it does dry down into something completely different. I think it’s the juiciness of the fragrance that makes it reminiscent of Decadence. The rich, musky sweetness of the dry down is spectacular on my skin and although I feel that it only lasts a moderate amount of time on me, I could smell it all over my clothes for hours.
The flacon is probably one of the nicest designs that I have seen in some time. A suspended glass flacon held within a gold ring, it’s definitely a statement piece and needs to be displayed. It ties in perfectly with the imagery of Michael Bublé, with the understated elegance. It’s a perfect perfume for the autumn and winter season, and with it being so reasonably priced, it will be a repurchase. A 30ml bottle costs £29, 50ml for £39 and 100ml for £55.
I hope he brings out a range of toiletries to match, and then everyone can have a proper Bublé bath. Groan.
