The biggest launch of the year has to be Kat Von D heading over to UK shores and taking root in Debenhams. With the brand only being available in Sephora, it’s been a hotly anticipated launch and from the hoards of people who visited the few stores that it has launched in, you can see that it’s going to huge. I personally wasn’t too fussed about the range as I just didn’t think it was for me, however my Mum went crazy for it. I first bought her a lipstick many years ago, and she was smitten. During the summer, I picked up the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour palette. Having a little nosy at it before I gave it to her left me feeling like I really needed to own this myself. So, using Octer, a shopping website with several department stores and brands all under one website roof, I ordered myself the palette and an Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. A girl deserves a treat every now and again.
The Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour palette retails in the UK for £36, which with the current exchange rate, is actually cheaper to buy in the UK. Great news for beauty lovers. A palette packed full of 12 shadows, all in matte shades that help transform eyes using the power of contouring. Isn’t light and shade the best thing! Each quad within the palette contains a large base shade, and three smaller pans with a contour shade, a definition shade and highlighting shade, with each quad falling under a neutral toned, a cool toned and a warm toned. Although I am a warm toned shadow wearer, the cool tones look very wearable to me, especially with the beautiful Saleos contour shade. Deeply pigmented, smooth and buttery and easy to apply, I can see why my Mum raves about this. Although I have just started using the Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics palette, I find that the shades in the Kat Von D palette are on a different spectrum, giving me even more choice when it comes to creating stunning look.
I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone slightly when choosing my shade of Everlasting Liquid Lipstick and I went for Nosferatu, a bloody crimson red. A medium deep toned red with a matte finish, it reminds me of blood. Maybe I’m in the Halloween spirit but I just couldn’t resist this warm toned shade when I saw the swatches online. I’d heard amazing things about the Everlasting Liquid lipsticks, from the longevity to the shade range with people saying they rival my favourite brand, Anastasia Beverly Hills. At the moment, I don’t think I’m ready to make such a comparison but what I do find is that Nosferatu is a stunning shade, that sits comfortably on the lips and the wear time is unbelievable. It literally does not move off my lips, and it wears down so evenly that I’m not left with a red ring around my lips. I also love the slight golden sheen that sits across the top when it dries. I think I’ll have to pick up a few more shades, and jump out of my comfort zone even more with more gothic colours.
Ordering my Kat Von D via Octer was so easy. With an easy to navigate site and app that you can break down your search via categories, or even a brand search, it makes light work of online shopping. As I was browsing the beauty categories, Kat Von D came up in my search under palettes and made it even more apparent that I needed to buy the Shade and Light palette. The search took me through directly to Debenhams, where my order was placed and ready to collect the very next day. Far too easy or what!
Have you tried anything from the Kat Von D range? I think I need the Lock It Foundation and concealer next – what do you think?
