I have a lot of love in my heart for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. Not only has it sent myself and my mum on a wild goose chase since before Christmas, but I had to resort from getting it whilst in America, which in hindsight I’m glad I did. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is my daily make up bag essential and this is why you need it.
The palette was exclusively available in the UK from Space NK over the Festive period priced at £56. Quick to sell out, I had to push it to the back of my mind and forget about it. Until it got re-released back in May. And sold out again. Destined not to have the palette, I purchased the single Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light to start my collection. On a different trip to Sephora, I walked over to the Hourglass stand to get some more powders and sat there, at the top of the stand, alone and waiting to be purchased was the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. To say I ran to the till was an understatemnt, and it was only $58 which works out about £35. Patience is a virtue as they say.
The palette contains Dim Light, Incandescent Light and Radiant Light. Dim Light is the most perfect powder for that soft focused, blurred out look. Imagine you’re sat in a restaurant at a candlelit table and your skin looks amazing because of the lighting. Well, that’s what Dim Light does to your face. Its a must have, and I haven’t gone a day without using it.
Incandescent Light is an exclusive colour to the palette and is not available to purchase as a single, which is a shame as its such a beautiful highlighting shade so I don’t want to run out! Although it has a shimmer, once applied to the skin it gives a luminosity without leaving your face looking like a disco ball. Soft and subtle, but giving an extra dimension to your cheekbones and high points of your face.
Radiant Light is the darkest powder of the three however I find it to be the most versatile. Not only does it work well with my skin tone, so it can be used all over my face, it also works well as a contour shade. I like to put Radiant Light over my bronzer as it lifts the colour and gives my skin a lovely glow that reflects the light beautifully.
The second picture above shows that when blended in, the powders diffuse the light and soften the skin whilst giving a sheer coverage that reflects the light. For those who take an interest in the formula, Hourglass powders are paraben, talc, fragrance, gluten and nano particle free. Good news!
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is a perfect size for your make up bag, handbag and for taking away on your travels. It hasn’t left my side since I purchased it and I can guarantee it will be a firm friend of mine for as long as it lasts.
