It’s Wednesday and it’s half way through the week, hurrah. I have already noticed those dark circles starting to appear under my eyes and I am looking a tad tired. Just how do you 9-5ers do it? Three mornings of getting up at 5am and I’m wondering just how much sleep I’m going to need to make myself look human again. Luckily, I have a handful of products that I can rely on to make me look bright eyed and bushy tailed, and to really fake looking wide awake. After years of having to fake it, so to speak, I think I have found the perfect beauty must haves that every one needs to own. 2:30 am wake up calls? You have been defeated!
Kicking off with skincare, and one thing I have found over the years is that my skin responds so well to a gel based moisturiser. There are many that I recommend, but my new love comes from Perricone MD, and although it’s quite pricey, I have noticed such a huge difference in my skin from only a month of use. I keep Perricone MD HYalo Plasma for my morning routine as its fresh and cooling, which helps with puffiness and sinks easily into the skin. It’s amazing for hydration, and smoothes out fine lines, whilst leaving skin with a glass like finish. It’s also perfect for using before applying makep as it’s oil free. Plus it’s made with my old fave hyaluronic acid.
The new primer on the block that has had everyone raving is the Too Faced Hangover Face Primer. Too Faced is pretty hard to get hold of in the UK, but thankfully Debenhams are stocking the full selection which is great news for an addict like me. Hangover is packed full of coconut water, probiotics and skin revivers to hydrate and brighten the skin. It works incredibly well with Hyalo Plasma and I’m already feeling like I have had a good eight hours.
I’ve recently found the bareMinerals Bare Skin Serum Concealer and I am in LOVE. Yes, it requires capital letters to describe just how much I have fallen for this miracle potion. I have been using it as an under eye brightener rather than just as a concealer, as the shade Light is ideal for this on my skin tone. The coverage is full yet not cakey and it instantly opens my eyes to mimic being wide awake.
A girl can never have too many concealers in the quest to fake it, and I’m bringing out an old favourite from Amazing Cosmetics; the Amazing Concealer. A wonder product in my eyes, that gives me everything I need to look fresh and youthful. The tiniest amount is needed when initially using Amazing Concealer, before building up to the desired effect. It’s not only an amazing cover up, but it’s waterproof and stays in place all day. Another tick in the box to looking wide awake.
There’s nothing as good as a light and sparkly eye shadow to make your eyes look open and to create that effect of having a good nights sleep. My signature colour is bronze, and I find that anything with a red or orange undertone works brilliantly to open up my eyes and make them look like shiny jewels. Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in Bette is definitely a firm favourite for my early mornings. Aside from making me look awake, the creamy eye shadow sets in place without creasing, with a subtle sparkle without being too overpowering.
To finish off the fresh faced, youthful look, there is nothing prettier than a plumped up, natural pout. As much as I love my lipsticks, I think that a natural look makes you look younger, which in turn makes you look more awake. Often, during flights, I find that I start of with a flash of colour on the lips, yet by landing I have switched to my Lanolips Banana Balm. Tasty, hydrating and infused with pearlescent shimmer to make lips look lustrous and full. Lanolips is made using lanolin which is the nearest structure to mimic our own skins oil and it makes my lips feel as good as new.
What products do you use to fake looking wide awake? I’d love to know!
