There has been an awful lot of fuss lately about the new Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara*. A mascara that’s designed to give you fluttery, volumised lashes with a 16 hour hold and that is easy to remove. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it. I have used the same mascara for years, and I’m not really open to change but with all the good things that I have been hearing about the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara, I had to give it a whirl.
Bourjois have created an innovative, patent-pending brush, with 360 degree wraparound technology. Taking inspiration from professional hairbrushes, the bristles contain wraparound spheres to coat each lash whilst the bristles define and pull the mascara through the lash. Clumping is minimal and each lash is volumised and full, giving a soft fluttery effect. The formula isn’t too wet, which I hate in a mascara and coating your lashes is easy from root to tip. The second coat also refrains from clumping and leaves your lashes looking like falsies, super black and seductive. It is also available in waterproof, which claims to give up to 24 hold, although I think I wouldn’t want to be wearing mascara for 24 hours to try that out.
My only niggle with the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara is that I find that I can’t grip my lashes properly with the brush. I’m not sure if it’s because of the wraparound spheres but I have had to adapt how I put my mascara on. I’m sure you’ll either understand me, or think I’m talking crazy but sometimes it can take me a good 20 minutes to get my mascara absolutely spot on. I find that I can’t use the Bourjois to grip the root of my lashes and wiggle the mascara through it. Aside from that, I’m super pleased with the effect it gives. I have short lashes but when mascara’d up, they stretch to a great length, looked fanned out and almost like falsies. I’m unsure if I could say that my lashes look volumised, but they look great and that’s the main thing!
