Out of all the make up I own (and I own a lot), there is one recurring theme running throughout. I love a highlight. From primers to powders, I have an insane amount of products designed to give the skin a lit from within glow. The newest it product on the block is the latest beauty collaboration with YouTube star Jaclyn Hill. Now, I’m going to surprise you all here and tell you just how little I know of Jaclyn Hill. I rarely watch YouTube, as my attention span is so poor that I really can’t even take in a 10 minute video without getting distracted. So for research purposes, I educated myself. Jaclyn is just like me – highlighter mad. The Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop had definitely flown to the top of my Sephora wishlist, overtaking a full size Becca Opal which I’ve been dying to get hold of.
It took me longer than expected to get hold of the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. I wasn’t going to order from Sephora and pay ridiculous customs and shipping charges, especially when I’m across the pond so often. The only problem with not ordering online was the wait whilst stores got it in stock and then hoping that they had some left when I was visiting. I only managed to get hold of it last month, after weeks of calling in every Sephora I came across. But, it was worth the wait.
As a massive fan of Becca Opal and the beautiful creamy powder formulation, I was expecting nothing less than perfection from Champagne Pop. The shade is described as a soft white gold with peachy pink undertones and inspired by the colour of champagne. The powder leaves a beautiful pearlised glow on the skin and although it looks quite golden in colour in the pan, the colour that is left on the skin is that of a pearly glow. I was slightly dubious when I first swatched the shade on my hand, and as you can see from the pictures, it is rather intense. A light hand and good tapered blending brush works perfectly in distributing the highlighter in the right places and removing the harshness whilst leaving the skin with a subtle luminosity.
It does need to be blended properly as a heavy layer can leave pores looking enlarged. It is incredibly pigmented and if you are a novice to highlighting then you really do need to start with the smallest amount and work up to the level of highlighting that you require. I have been wearing my Champagne Pop over the last of my Armani Luminous Silk foundation and it has been creating such a pretty look. I was asked how I got my cheekbones looking so lovely last week, so it’s definitely working.
For a hyped up product, I can assure you it is worth it and if you don’t already have the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop then you really need to get it. It is a limited edition item and I’m severely tempted to pick up another one or two. Champagne Pop is only available at Sephora, for $38.
