Nestled away in the old New Church House on John Dalton Street, you would be forgiven for walking past Manchester’s newest beauty powerhouse if it wasn’t for the neon pink sign of Barn//It in the window. An inconspicuous shop front hides an amazing multi floor sanctuary that Andrew Trott-Barn, celebrity stylist to the stars, has spent a small fortune on. Intrigued to see what all the fuss is about, I gladly accepted the invitation to visit Barn//It and experience the ultimate beauty destination that Manchester has welcomed with open arms. Creative Director Andrew Trott-Barn prides himself on giving a world class service in all things beauty from hair to beauty treatments, with a dedicated team that have been head-hunted for their services to the beauty industry. To say my first visit was incredible is an understatement, and I have never felt more at home in a salon in my entire life.
As you know, I am a fussy sod when it comes to my hair. Forever changing colour and cut, I had soon tired of the natural dark blonde with highlights and I made the decision to head back to my roots – literally. Using my ashy toned blonde roots, I had a definitive idea of how I wanted my hair to be. White blonde with my natural ashy blonde roots, I took my ideas to Tasha, colour specialist at Barn//It. For the next four hours I spent in the salon I was treated to not only an amazing colour but plied with cocktails from Dan the Bar Man in Barn//It’s licensed bar.
Using a mixture of full head highlights and balayage, Tasha gave my hair a much need jzuzh and pulled my natural colour through my hair with the whitest, blondest balayage before finishing off with an ashy grey toner. Not only have I got exactly what I wanted in my hair, it’s given me confidence to play around with colour for more up to date colour trends. Tasha, from the outset, put me at ease. She knew exactly what I wanted from the picture that I had showed her and I had no doubt watching her in action that my hair would out just as I asked. With up to date techniques such as balayage and baby highlights, my hair is multi tonal with no block colour and it has so much dimension when the light hits it. It definitely takes a talent with colour to create what Tasha has done, and I have found a colourist that I will be going to for as long as she works there.
Customer service is second to none within Barn//It and I was made to feel at ease from the outset. Starting the day with a glass of prosecco, this soon led to several cocktails including a parma violet inspired drink, a strawberry daiquiri and finishing with an espresso Martini. Who needs tea and coffee when you can sip on cocktails?
The whole set up of Barn//It has been designed for a full on pamper, and I haven’t called it a powerhouse for no reason. With several floors that fulfil all beauty needs, including aesthetics, Barn//It is probably the only place that I have been to that can cater for several people to get manicures and pedicures at the same time. I can’t wait for the next time I need a full day of beauty treatments, as I will be getting everything and anything done at Barn//It. I practically fell out of the salon by the time my hair was done and I’m really looking forward to doing it again.
The salon is definitely a place to be seen and I really want everyone I know to go. If you’re having a party or planning on a girls day, Barn//It can cater to all your needs without the wait, although I would be more than happy to sit at the bar whilst waiting to get my treatments done.
Not only do Barn//It have a fully interactive website, but they also have an app where you can book appointments with ease. Andrew really has thought of everything. I literally cannot wait for my next appointment.
