There’s one place in my house that instantly makes me feel peaceful and relaxed. My bedroom. A room that I have worked hard on to create a sanctuary whether it be to relax, sleep or work. I do spend an awful lot of time in my room and I have found that I prefer to sit on my bed as it’s a lot more supportive for my back. I also find that sitting to write my blog posts is mainly done in my bedroom and although the goal is to get myself a little office set up, my office is ran from my bed. From watching tv, to even just reading my Kindle whilst curled up on the bed, I just love to be in this room.

I have really made a conscious effort to ensure that my bedroom is a place of calm during the evening and I have set myself certain rules in order to get a good night sleep. From using room sprays, and switching off technology at a certain time, I have fallen into quite a nice routine so I am getting the most out of my sleep. A good night sleep = a happy Anoushka!

Investing into my surroundings has definitely been worthwhile when it has come to creating my place of calm. The best investment had to be the Leesa mattress and this has not only helped me to get a good night sleep but it has provided the utmost support to my back, so much so that my symptoms have been limited to the odd twinge and nothing serious has happened in a long time.

When it comes to bedding, I have always been a creature of habit and prefer keep everything plain and white. I can always rely on Christy Home for the most perfect bedding sets such as my current set, the Christy Peonia. 200 thread count, pure cotton set and the softest material I have had the pleasure of sleeping under. Thomas loves it and has rolled his black furry sausage body all over it in delight.

My duvet is one of my most extravagant purchases when it came to creating a perfect bed. From Marks and Spencer, the feather duvet has been an absolute godsend during these cold winter months. Even in the warmer months, it has regulated my temperature and I’ve had a comfortable nights sleep.

The one thing that I do need to look into are my pillows. In the New Year, I bought some lovely fluffy microfibre pillows which have been really lovely to sleep on. I have noticed that already they are starting to lose their fluffiness and no matter how much I plump them, I can’t get them back to the pillow they once were. I have been looking at investing into a pillow such as Nanu who offer a personalised pillow experience. By answering questions on the Nanu website, it will help you to get the best pillow for your needs. Not only that, but they also offer a 30 nights sleep guarantee so if you aren’t having the best nights sleep of your life, they will give you your money back. There’s also a buy one get one free offer on the site in time for Mothers Day, so you can treat your Mum to a perfect sleep too.

When it comes to creating a cosy bed, I think the more cushions the better. Matalan Home have a great selection including my giant Mongolian fur cushion which was just £16! A throw or two, just like my sherpa teddy bear throw which was a steal from Primark at just £5 in the sale!

For me, a good nights sleep in so important for my well-being so to make the most of having this incredible bed and bedding, I make sure that I have lights off, phone on silent and out of reach and any technology shut down for 10pm. Thankfully, living alone means that that I have full control over this sanctuary of mine!
