Expanding my wardrobe with Fashion World

I’m really trying to push myself with my clothing choices at the moment. I’m trying to move away from my comfort zone and choose items that are not just classic but that make me look and feel sophisticated. I’m trying to avoid the fast fashion brands and invest more into key pieces which is going well, but I still want to keep up with the trends and latest fashions. I’m also taking into account the extra padding that I have developed around my waist and bum and dressing for my shape rather than trying to hide it is definitely the way forward.

I never realised just how well Fashion World catered for plus size women and to be honest, it has inspired me to write this post. I have found items of clothing that fit really well, taking into account the proportions of a curvy girl as well as staying stylish and trendy. Whilst I am still at the lower end of plus size, the fact that I have size options ahead makes me feel better for knowing that I can change size should I need to. Shopping in a regular shop means that I have maybe one option before it won’t fit and that’s the end of that but to have more choice means such a lot especially being rather top heavy where my top size can be up to two sizes bigger than my bottom.

I was kindly invited along to an evening with Fashion World where we enjoyed plenty of Pornstar Martini’s before a delicious three course meal at The Living Room in Manchester. We discussed the latest fashions and campaigns as well as getting to know the brand a little more. Did you know that Fashion World have a home section too? I’ve found some cute flamingo pieces that would look amazing on my balcony this summer. As Fashion World wanted us to be immersed into the brand, they also let us choose an outfit for the evening. It was down to this evening that I have found the best pair of jeans that have ever graced my body.

As someone who stands at nearly 6ft tall, with a 34 – 35 inch inside leg, I struggle a lot with the length of standard length jeans. At the moment, we are living in a world where a skinny ankle grazer is all the rage but should I need a boot cut option, I would definitely need to be buying a specialised size to ensure that the jean hits the right point. Buying a standard length jean normally would fill me with dread but after trying the Extra High Shape and Sculpt Skinny Jean, I am more than impressed. The waistband has three buttons which means that my belly is held in by this magical slimming panel. The fabric of the jeans means that my waist is defined and my fabric hugs my booty, giving it shape but still showing off my waist. The length; perfection. I am obsessed. As I’ve been talking about how amazing the jeans are, several of my friends have also purchased a pair. I think I’m going to have to get the dark indigo pair as well. They do also do a long length but for skinny jeans, I do think that these would come too long however I would definitely be purchasing a long length for a bootcut style. The best jeans in the world, and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to find them.

Some of the other pieces that I chose are not only wearable together but have added that extra bulk to my capsule wardrobe. Notable pieces include the cutest wide leg culottes which can be dressed up and down, as well as the crepe blazer which will come in so handy as the weather warms up. The cut of the jacket gives a more relaxed shape so you can wear with jeans or dresses.

I’ve also treated myself to the most gorgeous blazer and as soon as I saw it, I knew this would be perfect for me. A cream boucle blazer, very Chanelesque that will be my go to for the spring/summer. A little personal addition of a pearl and diamond brooch will make give it a little edge and teamed with my favourite jeans, I will be wearing this until it falls apart.
