My Bag AW15 Preview

I have three weaknesses in my life. One is lipsticks, obvs. Two, I hoard expensive shoes. And three, I am obsessed with handbags. My motto is that lipsticks, shoes and handbags will always fit me, which is so true as unlike my favourite pair of jeans, my current favourite bag doesn’t feel tight on me. My collection is filled with high street and high end handbags and I choose bags that suit my style. I love a structured tote, a classic satchel and a slouchy hobo bag with some streamlined clutches for evenings out. As I am getting older, my tastes are changing and I am looking at bags as investment pieces, taking into consideration material, hardware and of course the price. I was invited to an exclusive event on Monday night for the My Bag AW15 preview and I couldn’t wait to share with you some of the gorgeous bags that I have seen.

My Bag has an extensive website in which it offers not just handbags, but sunglasses, lingerie and accessories. With brands such as Karl Lagerfeld, Aspinal of London, Lulu Guiness and Manchester based designer Grafea, My Bag is one of those websites where you can get lost in luxury for hours. There’s a huge end of season sale on at the moment, with up to 40% of The Cambridge Satchel Company, Ted Baker and many more brands. I wish I had a money tree right now!

The My Bag AW15 preview was held in the private dining area at Artisan in Spinningfields, Manchester. Artisan is such a warm and inviting place. It is spread across two floors, with stripped back walls and art installations. The aroma of hearty, rustic dishes straight from the fire fills the top floor whilst vibrant coloured cocktails are served from the bar. During our visit, we were served with prosecco and fine wines, whilst mini beef sliders, mini pizzas and the tastiest hand cut chips I’ve ever tried were served.

The new AW collection focuses on clean lines, darker colour palettes and polished hardware. Although the bags are designer, the labels are discreet with several bags easily identifiable as to who the designer is. Personal favourites of mine included the purple Karl Lagerfeld leather tote with chain detailing, a classic leather satchel from The Cambridge Satchel Company and an elegant yet modern Aspinal of London calf leather tote.
