Install slimline fixtures and fittings

From a slimline tank for your water, which will free up space in the garden, to slimline bathroom cabinets that will give you more floor space in the bathroom, there are a number of slimline solutions that will enable you to have all of the amenities you need without taking up quite so much space as your regular sized fixtures and fittings do now. Make as much use of them as you can and you will not regret it.

Go higher

If you have a lot of things that are taking up a lot of space, you can claw some of it back by looking toward the ceiling instead. Overhead storage solutions and high shelves will enable you to store everything neatly away while keeping your floor space clear so you can enjoy it, and it is pretty simple and inexpensive to install too.

Knock down walls

If you have a little more money to spend, knocking down some of your internal walls and turning your home into an open-plan space will free up more room because obviously, the space the walls were taking up will now be free for you to use as you wish.

Use those dead spaces

We all have nooks and recesses in our homes that are not doing much. By utilising them in any way we can, we can claw back a surprising amount of space. For example, an alcove in the living room can be fitted with an ottoman for seating and storage or a nook under the stairs can be furnished with a desk giving the kids a quiet place to do their homework, thus freeing up other parts of the home that would otherwise have needed to serve those purposes.

If you have a larger unused space in your house, turning it into an indoor playground can be a fun and creative way to repurpose that area. There are many different ways you can do this, depending on the size and layout of the space. A few ideas for an indoor play area include a play kitchen, a tent or fort made of pillows and blankets, a small climbing wall or obstacle course, or a portable gaga ball enclosure. While making the space more enjoyable and engaging, make sure it is safe for children to play in.

Landscape the garden

Landscaping the garden allows you to see the woods from the trees, so to speak. When you clear wavy overgrown trees and shrubs, you make more useable space that you can build a patio or erect a gazebo or turn into a fun playground for the kids. You also add more value to your home by doing this too.

Declutter

It’s obvious but the less stuff you have in your home the more available space you are able to claw back and enjoy spending time in, So, if you don’t need it and you don’t really want it, donate it!

As you can see, there are a number of fairly simple things you can do to claw back more space on your property, and doing so will make it much more comfortable to live in, as well as potentially adding value to your home, in many cases, too.
