Oh babes, I wish I had shared this nearer to Christmas as it’s been the one palette that I have been pulling out over and over again. I stayed in on New Years Eve with a bottle of prosecco and Jade on my eyes and I had a lovely time. Again, apologies for the festive themed images but waste not, want not! The Urban Decay Stoned Vibes palette was a rather quick purchase for me and I’ve been more than impressed at what I’ve seen so far.

Urban Decay are really throwing the palettes out at the moment and as I write this, I’m thinking of the Urban Decay Naked Ultra Violet that was released in June of last year, although I could have sworn that it was around October time, and now the new Naked Wild West has been released. I will get a post up as soon as I can for that one but it’s a perfect day to day palette with a pop of colour. Back to the Stoned Vibes palette and I must say that this is a welcome addition to my palette family especially as I love having those topper and popper shades. Unlike the Moondust palette which comes out really frequently in my house, the Stoned Vibes palette is a much chunkier and heavier glittered palette that really has an impact when worn.

The packaging off course has to be mentioned. I mean, just look at how beautiful the exterior is. The prismatic stones on the outside give a hint to the multi faceted and dimensional sparkle shades that you will find on the inside. The palette contains a dual ended brush like most UD palettes as well as a large mirror making it ideal for travel. When I say travel I obviously mean for when you’re moving between the bathroom and bedroom.

The formulation of the Urban Decay Stoned Vibes is suitable for vegans and does not contain any animal derived products. Whilst Urban Decay has been cruelty free for many years, it is nice to see the move into vegan friendly products and I hope this continues. Each shade in the palette is brand new to the UD family, and features 12 shades with four mattes and 8 creamy stone like shimmers. The mattes are what we expect from UD, who have a great formulation for hard wearing, easy to blend and buttery soft shadows with great pigmentation. I find Urban Decay shadows some of the best for blending. The unique shimmer shades are just wonderful. They feel like a gel hybrid and I find that a finger application gives a sheerer look whilst a synthetic brush is better for packing and placement. Once in place, they don’t move around the face but do your base makeup after you have done your eyes – you will get fallout due to the formulation of the shimmers.

I always look at the reviews on the brands website when writing my blog posts as I like to see what others are saying. For Stoned Vibes, I have seen a lot of comments mentioning the pigmentation and colour. I do feel that you need to work on the building of the shades and there is some skill level needed as they quite a niche shadow. They are difficult to blend which is why they are more of a topper shade and should be placed in such a way. I always use a primer – my Urban Decay Primer Potion is the only eye primer I use and I haven’t found any issues with that or with placing the shades over the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue. When I was swatching on my arm, it was very apparent that a finger swatch would not cut it and a brush was needed for maximum payoff due to the texture of the shadows. The only difference I found in the pay off with a finger application is that it had more of a wet look metallic finish to it.

I am really pleased with Urban Decay Stoned Vibes. I feel that it has added in that extra bit of fun into a look and the colours are just so pretty. Even if you are just looking for something more minimal, you’ll find it in Stoned Vibes. The only small negative I have is the wear time and that they do seem to wear down quite easily.

There are quite a few offers on at the moment where Stoned Vibes is around £32 instead of the £45 retail price so if you have your eye on it, it’s worth picking up now!
