Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk – The Full Collection

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk The Full Collection 1 Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk - The Full Collection

This collection has been gifted to me. Oh my God.

Ok, lets just get the excitement out right now because oh em gee, my good lord, holy hell on earth, I still CANNOT get over the fact that I have received this parcel. Me, little old me, who blogs occasionally and doesn’t perform well on Instagram and basically someone who has well and truly faded into the background of beauty blogging. If you saw my Stories when I opened all of this, I cried. A lot. And, in a all seriousness it means the actual world to me that brands are still wanting to send out packages like this to a has-been who has been busy trying to make a comeback to the blogging world. Anyway, tears and traumas over – this is going to be a mammoth post as well as being quite photo heavy so I would go and make a brew before settling down to ogle the entire Pillow Talk collection in all it’s glory.

The majority of the products have already been released on general sale on the Charlotte Tilbury website with the exception of the Pillow Talk Beauty Light Wands which will launch on the 26th February. At the moment, it does appear that the new items from the collection have been exclusive to the Charlotte Tilbury website but they will be available alongside the permanent Pillow Talk items at other retailers starting this week.

The Palettes

Let’s start with the one that we’ve all been looking forward to. After seeing this on social media prior to it’s launch, I immediately fell in lust. I do really like the 12 pan palettes from Tilbs and I find them to perform a lot better than many of the quads. I do own the Stars in Your Eyes palette which is used frequently and I did have thoughts that the new Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk 12 Pan palette would be too similar but I had nothing to worry about. Pillow Talk is a very warm toned palette with neutrals and pops of pinks with quite a hefty selection of mattes vs shimmer shades. After swatching, it was nice to see that the shades were actually quite a lot deeper than what they appear in the palette and this has pleased me immensely. I’m not a fan of insipid shades and prefer to work with a deeper colour palette. The shades are also very pigmented and although you can’t see how a shade performs on the eye from a swatch, what I can say is that the majority of shades picked up on a brush and gave the same colour payoff as if I was swatching with a finger. The shimmer shades also work beautifully when applied to the eye with a finger, a wet brush or over the top of a glitter glue. As with the previous 12 pan palettes, it’s broken down into different looks; Day, Desk, Date and Dream with three shades; Prime, Smoke and Enhance.

The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Quad is a set of rosy pink neutrals that can be used alongside the 12 pan palette or as they are. With this palette, this is where I can see a noticeable difference in the quality between the two lots of shadows. The quad shadows feel chalkier than the creamy shadows in the 12 pan however they did still apply like a dream, they blend well but they did seem to have a dustier finish. The shades are truer to how they look in the pan when they are applied and I did find that as the colours do run into each other as they are blended. The Pop shade is one of my favourite Pop shades released by the brand so far and the peachy, shimmery colour has been giving me great joy.

A palette that every beauty addict should have in their stash is the Charlotte Tilbury Palette of Pops, in Pillow Talk. The pop shades from every single palette I own give me huge satisfaction as they can change the look from a simple day time eye to a party eye in the touch of a finger or brush. From swatching these, what I have found is that some of the sparkles do not transfer from finger to skin with ease but it is by far the easiest way to lay the product on your eye. Think of these pop shades as an eye topper rather than the traditional palettes which follow the prime, enhance, smoke and pop formation. Sheer, extremely sparkly, pigmented and leave a beautiful finish, the emphasis on this palette is the overall look and not the build up of colour.

The Lipsticks

Pillow Talk started with just one lipstick. A lipstick that was changed how we wore nudes. A dreamy nude pink that immediately made your lips look plump and cheats the appearance of fuller lips. A lipstick that in the short two years that it has been available, I have used several. It’s become an iconic shade and you can see why a whole collection has been developed from it. One of the reasons why I have been so excited for the Pillow Talk collection is that they have extended the shade range to include a medium intensity shade as well an intense shade. Whilst Pillow Talk Original looks beautiful on, sometimes I do need to deepen it with a lip liner so the Pillow Talk Medium will be perfect for my lips.

I have been asked by several if they need to get the new shades of Pillow Talk but they aren’t there to be a new colour, they’re designed to fulfil the needs of other skin tones and you can see from the swatches that they are very similar but just deeper hued to suit. That being said, if you are a Tilbs collector, you’ll need all three. The original is still in the Matte Revolution formulation and joining it is Pillow Talk Medium. In the KISSING formulation is Pillow Talk Intense. I have no preference over the Matte Revolution and KISSING formulas; both are extremely comfortable to wear and have the same wear time.

For something slightly sheerer, the Superstar Lips in Pillow Talk is an ideal substitute for a more glossy and less opaque finish. Considering this is the first time I have tried Superstar Lips, I am now casting an eye over the diamond versions which are packed with light reflecting particle and shimmer. Gorgeous.

The Lip Cheat shade range has been extended to reflect the new shades with Lip Cheat Pillow Talk Medium and Lip Cheat Pillow Talk Intense now on sale. The original Lip Cheat Pillow Talk is another key pencil in my make up bag and I couldn’t even tell you just how many of these I’ve gone through. I do think I will be replacing the Original shade with Medium going forward as the difference that it makes is unreal.

A brand new shade has been added to the Collagen Lip Bath range and if you couldn’t guess, it’s called Pillow Talk. A high shine, super glossy lip gloss packed with Marula oil, Vitamin A and Coconut Oil. It’s not a sticky gloss, and it leaves my lips looking so plumped and big that it’s almost become obsessive with the applying. Currently an online exclusive, this is going to be a huge hit. I also love the heart shaped applicator which is just too cute. Also available in Pillow Talk is the classic Lip Lustre which I adore for giving that glossy finish to a lip look.

The Blushers

When Charlotte Tilbury first launched, the first product I bought was the Cheek to Chic blush in Love Is The Drug. A unique blush in that it contains a blush shade and a pop shade to give a gorgeous and seamless fresh glow. Easy to apply, with a concept so simple with the pop of colour on the apples of the cheeks, I rely on my Cheek to Chic to perk my skin up. The Cheek to Chic Pillow Talk Original is now joined by the Pillow Talk Intense which wouldn’t be out of place when used with a light hand on paler skin. Whilst the original is a nude pink with champagne pop, the Intense is a deeper nude pink with a rosy pink pop. Both extremely beautiful and very wearable.

The Highlighters

A true sneak peek into what is coming out at the end of February and that is the two brand new shades in the Beauty Light Wands. The Pillow Talk Beauty Light Wands have the same great formula as the Hollywood Beauty Light Wands but will now be available in two new shades, Pillow Talk and Pillow Talk Intense. What I really love about these light wands is that you can build them up or really sheer them out depending on the intensity of the semi metallic finish that you want. I cannot wait to play with these more especially as it moves into the warmer months.

The Eyeliner

Last but not least, the product that I was not expecting at all but have already realised that this is a huge game changer when it comes to a seductive eye look. The Pillow Talk Eyeliner is a shade that I have not seen before. A smokey berry brown, deeply unusual but looks incredible. The formulation of the eye liner is the same as before; smudgeproof, long wearing and easily to blend on application before it sets. The perfect addition to the Pillow Talk palettes, it’s that kind of shade that is natural and isn’t try to hard yet has a seductive edge when smudged along the lash line. It’s quite simply beautiful and must be tried to be believed.

I did warn you it was going to be a lengthy one but thanks for sticking through! Let me know in the comments which of the Pillow Talk collection is your favourite.
