Summer Beauty Look Book with Boots

This post is an
advertised collaboration with Boots but all thoughts are my own.

The last time I nipped into Boots for some toiletries, I left with a bag of products and had spent around £80. Totally unintentionally but I find that I just can’t help myself and run wild in the aisles. It’s hard as I work near one of the best Boots stores that has every brand imaginable and new products appearing frequently. To say that it’s my go to drugstore shop is quite an understatement as I’m in there more than I care to mention. Where else can you buy a sandwich and a YSL lipstick? Hayfever tablets and a new skincare regime? This summer, I’m working alongside Boots to show you my Summer Look Book, with a capsule collection of products that will get you through the next few months whilst keeping you looking fresh, fabulous and bang on trend.

For me, Summer means fresh glowing, a nice tan and a flawless complexion. The trend for 2019 has shown that this has really changed and the focus is on barely there foundations that allow freckles to shine through. As I don’t have many natural freckles, the trends are showing to fake it with cute faux freckles. For my summer looks, I’m using three skincare and complexion products to make my skin look as fresh and cute as possible.

Before I go to bed, I’m adding in two drops of the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops into my evening moisturiser. The tanning drops develop overnight and I’m waking up with a gorgeous golden glow. At first, I took it easy with the drops as I wasn’t sure just how dark it would develop but I can confirm that a two drops develops into a lovely, sunkissed colour that doesn’t have any tint of orange. It’s possibly the best way to tan your face instead of using standard false tans. My skin still looks hydrated and as the drops are in addition to moisturiser, the tan is even and non patchy.

My first foray into the Ole Henriksen brand started a while ago where I tried the skincare and loved it. It’s so amazing to see such an incredible brand now being sold in Boots making it so accessible to everyone. An Ole Henriksen wonder product has to be the Banana Bright Face Primer which I am obsessed with. Vitamin C is the glow up vitamin that I can’t recommend enough. The Banana Bright primer is packed full of Vit C as well as banana powder inspired pigments to give the Ole Glow. Skin looks dewy, fresh and healthy and I find that I’m wearing this alone on no makeup days as I love how it makes my skin look.

A key product for me when it comes to glowy skin has to be the Sleek MakeUp Highlighting Elixir in Poppin Bottles. A intense show of highlight when worn alone, it gives that glassy sheen and is so perfect for a night out. For day to day use, a drop or two into my foundation or primer sheers it out a lot but still gives the effect of dewy skin. I adore Sleek products as the pigmentation is incredible for such a low price point and the Elixir is intense to say the least! It’s a key product for me in my kit because of how versatile it is.

In my summer makeup bag, you will find three staple items that no girl should go without. I also carry these with me, just in case I need to amplify my day time makeup for an impromtu night out. A classic neutral palette will never go out of fashion and I have found that the Barry M In the Buff palette is incredibly versatile. Start the day with a softer look using nude shades and a touch of shimmer which can be turned into a smouldering and sexy eye look using the deeper shades.

I also carry a brow palette with me as I am that girl who cannot leave the house without my brows being set in place. My brows shape my face and enhance my eyes so whether I am combing a light wax through them to keep them tamed, or creating a power brow using the darker shade and highlighting my brow bone, I have found that the Soap and Glory Archery DIY Brow palette comes in so handy. A handbag essential indeed.

There are numerous lip products scattered in my handbag but they all have a common theme in that they’re all in the same shade range. I love a mauve undertone and my preference in finish has to be a matte. I have found a new love in the e.l.f Matte Lip Colour and Tea Rose is such a beautiful shade. The lip pencil is ideal for on the go top ups as it’s a twist up pencil with a little sharpener included for precise definition. The formulation is hydrating and soft, and whilst its a matte finish, it doesn’t dry out my lips. Perfect for summer and perfect my handbag.

Saving the best til last, a summer look book cannot be complete with a pop of colour. With festival season approaching and many a night out planned with glitter makeup, I love to try something different when it comes to using shades that you wouldn’t usually wear. Fenty Beauty have smashed into the beauty industry and have brought a range of products that I am thoroughly enjoying using. It’s amazing to see a brand like Fenty in Boots, and it means that I can spend my Advantage Card points to treat myself. The summer launches include the Vivid Eyeliner Trio in Baeside. Three liquid liners that deliver a pop of colour with precision. Use them to line your eyes, create neon freckles or even draw designs around your eyes for your festivals, the possibilities are endless. They apply like a dream and I have a new found love for wearing neon green liner. They are the epitome of summer in a tube!

I love summer makeup and perfume. What are your favourite products for the summer months?
