Home: My Desk Story *

I do count myself very lucky in the space that I have in my home but that space does start to become very limited when I try and add in more furniture for my needs. I have a whole second bedroom that I have turned into my dressing room/spare room/blogging space but I really do miss having a desk to sit at when editing and writing. Since damaging my back, I find that I struggle to get comfy and I do sit with my laptop on my knee but I wish I had some sort of space that made me feel like I was ready for work with no distractions.

These days you can find desks and office furniture from Furniture At Work to fit the smallest surface and I do think maybe I should make a small corner in the second bedroom that suits my needs.   Of course, building a mood board of how I can do this does lead me to Pinterest and a quick search of small office spaces has brought some incredible ideas to mind. My second bedroom is very ‘blogger’. Rose gold and marble, copper and faux fur, pale pink and grey. A sleek white desk, a cute yet practical office chair and some Desenio prints and it will be very instagrammable.

I have been looking at chairs that won’t take up too much space but will fit in with my decor. We have recently been given a furniture at work update and my desk chair is very supportive for my needs, but at home, I am thinking of a baby pink affair. Completely unfit for purpose but it’s not like I’m going to be sat in it for 8 hours a day!

Having another surface to leave things on would mean that a desk could potentially turn into a dumping ground for all sorts, but that is defeating the object of having a haven to work in. Office and desk organisers come in very handy. A small set of drawers, some magazine files to store my notebooks and paperwork and a plant or two would make it look stylish and smart. I find that supermarkets with home sections have great stationary selections and I could spend a small fortune on journals and notebooks.

Now that I have some firm ideas in mind, I think that this little addition to the room would make such an impact. I think I’ve just found my perfect desk and chair too.
