Lifestyle: The 5:2 Diet with Lighter Life Fast.

For a good few months, if not years, I have been using food as an excuse. An excuse to comfort myself in times of need, an excuse for eating sweets and chocolate as I was lacking in energy and an excuse to eat like a little piggy because ‘it’s ok, I’ll be going to the gym tomorrow’. Except tomorrow never comes, and those pounds have been creeping on slowly. And the last few months where I haven’t needed to be on my feet for 12 hours a day, well its taken its toll and its had its effects. Now I’ve been diagnosed with my Vitamin B12 deficiency and taken steps to improve my iron intake, I have been feeling pretty good and now I am feeling motivated to lose weight and get back on track with my health and diet. Lighter Life Fast* is the ideal solution for a person in my line of work, where dieting isn’t easy to do due to the hours I am in work, the length of time I work and the destinations in that I end up. The 5:2 diet, where you eat normally for 5 days and fast for 2 days will be absolutely perfect for this hostie.

This morning I weighed myself and have noted it down, and over the course of the next four weeks I will be fasting on two days each week. The two days do not need to be together however it will be more convenient for myself to do two consecutive days. On the days that you are fasting, only 500 calories should be consumed. I can imagine that working out meals to fall under 500 calories is quite difficult, so Lighter Life Fast has took the difficulty out of it by providing several delicious, nutritious, calorie controlled alternatives to enjoy. A total of four products should be consumed over the course of the day for a woman of my size and height.

The full range of products provide enough to keep the fasting interesting, with shakes, soups, meals, porridge and snack bars available. The full range is exclusive to Superdrug from Ā£7.99.

Over the next four weeks, I will be choosing my meals from the following products:

Lighter Life Fast products Shakes Bars porridge soup meals (2)

Lighter Life Fast products Shakes Bars porridge soup meals (4)

Lighter Life Fast products Shakes Bars porridge soup meals (6)

Lighter Life Fast products Shakes Bars porridge soup meals (9)

Tomorrow will be my first day of my fast, and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll keep you updated as to how I’m getting on each week and any weight loss, if any. If you are interesting in trying Lighter Life Fast, check out the website and see how you can lose weight with the 5:2 diet. Keep up with my progress on Twitter by searching #TryFast

*I have been kindly sent the products from Lighter Life Fast to try, however all opinions are my own.

  • Oh wow, Lighter Life have had such a good idea jumping on the 5:2 bandwagon! I think it’s such a good diet but I obsess about food and just can’t not eat much haha! I think having prepared meals would help though as it means you don’t spend time thinking about what you’re going to make, and therefore don’t cause yourself to be hungry haha! I’m doing Juice Plus and actually finding it okay (!). Good luck on your diet, looing forward to seeing your results šŸ™‚

will keep an eye out on your twitter for how you’re getting on then. would like to know how tasty the meals are and how you cope on your fasting days – i think i’d really struggle šŸ™

    • I’m hoping I don’t struggle! Eek xx

  • I’m looking forward to seeing your progress! šŸ™‚

  • Will look forward to see how you get on. Me and food are on a constant battle and so am trying the Weight Watchers diet at the moment.

  • This sounds a great way to manage it, I am definitely considering it as I wouldn’t be able to manage it alone. Good luck lovely xxx

  • My mum is on this diet.
But I think and she also thinks that these packs are a BIG rip off! You can make your own “fast” meals for cheaper, and lower calories.
    How does it taste?

    • They taste quite good actually, and the amount of protein in them is filling me up a treat. But, I agree in that you can make you’re own for a fraction of the price. They’re really handy to have all your meals planned out for you, especially if you’re working etc but I’m missing vegetables, which I’m used to having every day! I’ll do an update on the diet soon šŸ™‚ xx
